It's just like the pool party scam that went around on the forums. Do not click it. The only Riot promotions are announced on the News page and/or can be found on the support page here.
If it sounds like an awesome deal, immediately be skeptical about it and check on the League News page if they announced it.
I clicked the link and won 50,000,000 from an african brother I never knew I had. Apparently my dad got around.
Anyway, all I have to do is pay a one-time processing fee of $5000 and it will all be wired to my account. go me!
Okay, so this might be a cross site scripting attack page.
If you were logged into the League of Legends site, clear your cache and reset your passwords to something else.
If you were logged into anything else that is League related,_ like LoLKing_, clear your cache and reset your passwords on LoLKing (or whatever) AND League of Legends. This is because your user names and passwords are very likely to be similar or the same. And while League of Legends is likely protecting your credentials, the stored information for those other sites may not be as safe.
I can write how cross site scripting attack works later, but right now if you are logged into anything, clear cache and reset all related passwords.
I've run the URL I got bilgewaterchestsdotcom through every site checker I know of. None report malware or viruses BUT IT'S DEFINITELY NOT LEGIT! The website was created 3 hours ago and from what I've seen there hasn't been much traffic. Only 2 Facebook posts as of now. Someone went to a lot of work for seemingly nothing? Seems like maybe it's a test for a future scam or maybe it'll ask for your account details once the fake event it over. Either way I'm curious and I think riot should keep an eye on it.

Someone on my friends list sent me this link. "http://bilgewaterchests.com/EOOZjz" - I checked it on a secure site checker page and it told me that it was created 14 hours ago.
He goes by the name of Legitpanda72. I'm passing along this information because if this helps scumbags like this get banned, I couldn't be happier to help out. Here is photo evidence.
This concerns me mostly because I clicked the link before it was announced that a new scam was going around. Since then I've reset my passwords and deleted any saved credit card data. I also cleared my cache of the data. After doing all of this I can still log into my account but I want to know if there is anything else that I can do. Normally I don't click links like this but someone on my friends list that I had just finished a game with sent me the link and I sent it to some people. I feel terrible about doing it but it looked like the real LoL site. Is there anything else that can be done to protect my info and my account and is there anything that will be done for people affected by this scam?
Hold on.. I clicked on it, because my friend sent it to me and told me not to click it. Curiosity killed the cat, you could say. I'm worried about my account now, is something going to happen to it? Will I get a virus on my iPad? (Sent it to me through Skype which I checked on my iPad)

On a serious note, what can clicking on a page do? I haven't put any information in anything and I've been logged in so keylogging can't happen
So has anyone found anything happening after clicking the link? I accidentally clicked it and now I cleared my cache, am on a different one of my accounts, and am running multiple virus scans.
The 'Bilgewater chests' people are talking about are most likely related to the rewards you get after completing a tournament on their new page. This is in the news feed and is not a virus: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/bilgewater-boarding-parties-drop-anchor In the page there's a link to the tournament page where you can enter your team, play against other teams and if you get 1st place you get RP, Ip win boost, triumphant ryze and a bilgewater chest. I haven't seen any other websites that claim to offer chest for entering your info, is the page that riot created somehow making you think that it's a virus? or are there actual virus websites.

Okay so I accidentally clicked on it skeptical at first and it is separate from the league of legends website but links back to it but not the other way back. I didn't see anything about it however i don't understand what it can do from just clicking a link i mean it can give me a virus but it doesn't ask for any personal info.
So.. I clicked on the link when I wasn't logged in on the League site, that means nothing happens to me right?
