imagine you owned a supermarket and gave most of the things for free

you kept sales for every paid object on every occasion.. but people still forced you to give those exclusive items for free

from where would you earn money?

Are u shitting me with that logic? Riot is a multi billion dollar company and your comparing real life items for virtual items? Giving away a skin wouldn't cost them a cent, it's a virtual item...I think what you meant to say is riot is greedy and they would make less money if they rewarded the player base that made them rich in the first place, but it wouldn't cost them anything.

I don't think you fully grasp the finances behind those skin sales. Though admittedly, the grocery store is a poor example for a lot of reasons.

The skins are not free. They have a production cost. And not all skins meet that production cost, so they have to compensate for each other.

Can they afford it? Probably. But from a financial perspective, what is the benefit? And really, there's no long-term PR benefit to it either.

As far as the poll goes. No, the players should not get a skin. They have no right or entitlement to it. Riot has no reason to give it. But players will want it (even I would like it), so they're naturally going to vote in favor. The poll is inherently biased in this respect.

They would incur no actual loss because every skin is a virtual product. There is no production cost associated to this aside from a couple people writing the code that unlocks 1 champ per account.

What Riot would lose is potential gains, as some people will get lucky and get a skin that they were 50/50 on buying.

With that said, if you don't count the people who never buy RP, giving away 1 free skin would make a lot of players who do pay VERY HAPPY. This is actually a great PR move and it makes players like me more inclined to buy RP, cause I like supporting companies that I like.

Riot isn't entitled to give us anything, but it would've been a great gesture.

Hell I would've been happy if they just gave us another double-IP weekend during christmas instead.

Explain to me why Riot owes it's players nothing? Because they provide a free to play game? Because we don't have to give them money or invest in them?

Ok let's look at that logic.

0 people spending money = Riot $0 0 people investing time in the game = Riot no game.

The "ONLY" reason this game is free to play is because people spend money on skins, they didn't make the game free for out benefit. It was actually realized games more money to go free to play and offer virtual items to for players to pay a subscription.

So yes without the player base and the money we give them they wouldn't even be a company. To prove my point, if everyone that played please suddenly stopped playing league for a year Riot would go out of business.

So now you explain to me why you think Riot doesn't owe the players who make this game possible not entitled to anything or right? I mean I hired a construction company to build a pole barn and I bought them beer and food.. Did I have to ? No i'm already paying them but I did it because imo they deserved it for the work they did. Riot doesn't even pay us we pay them and they can't hand out some free rp (which cost them nothing) or a free skin because they wouldn't make anything on it? Sorry but making a skin doesn't cost that much money...

It is actually pretty easy to make a skin and animations to go along with it, people do it all the time for free and as a hobby http://leaguecraft.com/skins/.

I could make a skin with animations in an hour. You telling me Riot couldn't spend an hour to give out a free skin?

NTY. Then some people would end up getting several gifts, while others would end up with nothing. Imagine being a kid on Christmas with tons of friends/siblings around you opening gifts, and then you realize you don't have any. I know for a fact i would be one of those kids crying in the corner.

I checked my battle.net and blizzard is offering so many cool gifts. Exp boosts, in game items. They really are a company that tries to show their players that they care.

Riot is pretty great and all but I thought the season is a bout giving instead of just giving us full priced christmas skins :/

I love Blizzard, I love their Employees, I actually want to be a Blizzard Employee one day. They are really a great company. Riot just lacks that communication with the players that Blizzard thrives at. I've never had a problem with Blizzard and if I do I can call and talk to someone helpful instead of a robot redirecting me to some forum thread or "help" link.

Blizzard's communication en masse with their fans has really gone downhill - and this is generally where Riot thrives - Riot's messaging isn't always complete, but they always talk to their fans on the forums/etc. like people in stead of customers, which I respect. But Blizzard's Customer Service/GMs are really good, and this is where Riot needs improvement bigtime.

Yes, because requesting or wanting at least a fair discount on a day surrounded about giving to others is such a bad thing. Even if Riot didn't give anything free, that's not what they're asking for. If you read, they just don't want the full price stuff that you get every other time of the year. Personally, I would have loved for Riot to give something like one free icon or one free ward of your choice or at the very least a discount on the winter skins and mystery gifts in light of a one day Christmas gift to the players.

How about instead of being rude by calling someone names, you give some respectful comments about why you think they're opinion is wrong or doesn't make sense to you? Did you ever consider that option at all?

Christmas is not everyday, we are asking for 1 skin every year. By the time next Christmas comes they will have 50 skins or even more its not like they are not going to make no more skins then everyone is going to have everything.

Many of those many millions are here for free, ie. they don't buy anything. So giving them a skin actually costs Riot $0, since they weren't going to buy RP anyway and may, in fact, encourage them to start buying RP in the future if they find they like it.

You can't put a price on goodwill. And with all the other nonsense that's been happening to this game for the past several years, Riot needs all the goodwill they can muster. A random champ or skin would be the -least- they could do. ~Uiru

Smite does giveaways all the time and for every major holiday. They just did 7 days of gem (RP) giveaways for christmas, and i was able to several voicepacks as well as like 2+skins because on top of giving aways gems, they had everything on sale for 50% off.

I would love just 1 mystery gift from riot as a Xmas gift. That would be amazing, and i would actually want to play LoL more.

The best business man knows that in order to get something from someone, it's best to either steal or make that person feel like they are getting a good end of the bargain. Why when you buy a car do you get 5000$ in cash back from a loan, when you're paying interest on that 5000$ extra on that loan? Simple you have 5000$ in your pocket you didn't have before. it feels nice.

To be fair to rito i already wasted so much money on this game i made a promise to myself and friends that i wouldn't spend another penny, but i spent so much on it that i know i got taken
