I normally am very self-focused about my lane, especially when I play mid. It's funny, in high gold / plat, the phrase "no summoners / flash XXXXX champ" almost always means "I screwed up, bail me out."
However, the current meta does strongly favor (early) ganking junglers over farming junglers. For instance, I recently had a game as Gnar top vs. Nasus. This is a lane matchup which strongly favors me. However, at level 2, the enemy Rengar came from behind me (our own jungle) and his bola + nasus wither forced my flash. He then sat in top brush for 2 more levels, effectively zoning me while Nasus farmed.
I didn't die. I farmed what I could. However, Nasus got a gold lead he never really relinquished at the cost of Rengar's XP and gold. Now, this means we should be able to capitalize elsewhere on the map. Gank bot, do dragon, sit mid, do something. However, our feral flare Nocturne didn't do any of that. We didn't punish Rengar for wasting time top. There was a Nasus top and Vayne bot. Guess who outscaled. It wasn't our Nocturne.
What do I want from a level 2-4 Nocturne? Well, I for one would prefer he consider team comp when selecting his champ. He wasn't forced into the role and already knew they had a Nasus and Rengar. Nocturne isn't a very favorable champ in this situation. Second, once it becomes clear that the opposing jungler is applying heavy pressure, don't go feral flare, go elder lizard. This kind of goes along with "what could I have done better?" I could have looked more to capitalize on my teleport being up, but again we weren't making any plays anywhere for me to teleport in to. I also needed to somehow move the minion wave closer to my turret, but Nasus did a really good job of freezing.
In this sense, you can't just afk farm while their jungler makes major impacts upon lanes. That doesn't work at the moment. Even when lanes don't die to ganks, the pressure is often enough to get them behind their lane opponents. If a jungler is exerting heavy pressure upon a lane, you need to answer.
So yes, it's not the jungler's fault when you die. Ward, have map awareness, have an escape route available, etc. But the jungler can't be inactive or just afk farm. You gotta gank during lane phase and attempt to force objectives. That's currently where the meta is at.
