Why is it "toxic" to ask for reports on trolling players

But it's not "toxic" for a rito employee to say, "troll and you won't have your account long"?

inb4 it's toxic cuz "__"

Not asking why it is toxic by itself. I'm asking why it's only toxic if it's not a rito doing it.

When you do it in the game you are retaliating against a player and trying to influence other players. You just involved them in a toxic exchange and you are lowering the enjoyment of the game for them. Riot tells you out of the game you might get banned. It's a rule. I can't put it all here but here you go.

This is a huge read but everything is there.

One is an out-of-game warning about what negative behavior can lead to.

One is an in-game attempt by someone unaware of how the report system works to incite a crowd against an individual.

Was this question seriously worth asking?

I don't understand what you're trying to question here at all. Toxic players are a problem in general and are something no one wants to deal with no matter where you are or what you're doing. The Report feature on almost every game or site is precisely because no one wants to deal with toxic players. So it's only natural that here too, if you're toxic, being reported will be encouraged against you by everyone.

it's toxic because if you ask the other team to do it in all chat, they might not have the visibility of the chat on your team side, which means it's asking them to report someone whether there really was toxicity or not. If you have a problem with someone, you report them. If the other person has a problem with someone, they will report them without you asking them to.

Don't ask others to report, it is considered harassment.

It doesn't do anything.

The system tracks the frequency of the games you are reported in; it doesn't care how many times you are reported in a single game.

Quite frankly, your report alone isn't treated any differently than 9 reports in a single game.

The only thing asking for reports does is ruin team morale even further.

Riot employees don't threaten to report people or harass them regarding it. Considering they are the final authority in the matter, they don't have to.

If they can confirm that you are violating their ToS first-hand and have the evidence to support it, then they don't have to wait for the system to identify and process the punishment. They can escalate the issue immediately.

If they state "troll and you won't have your account long", then that is probably the final warning you are being given that your behaviour is unacceptable.
