Should Riot crack down on Smurfs?

I will have to be completely honest. Smurfing looks fun but, it is being horribly abused. here, let me explain. My only experience with smurfs this far isn't very good. Just a bunch of Gold jerks. Why is this bad, well an experienced player should be forced to play a their skill level it also doesn't help that these secondary accounts are Toxic but, there is really no punishment because, all of the things they truly care about like there skins, the champions they played hundreds of games for, and of coarse there rank. are all on there main account.

I feel like they don't stop at normal ether. It feels almost like these classic jerk wads take it into ranked play. intentionally throwing there placement matches to land in a lower skill level Why? For the soul purpose of talking down to every one, Probably. This is extreamly unfair. I wouldn't mind it so much if us newer players Understood at least how to build properly but, I honestly feel like some of these players were hacking. I mean, they probably weren't but, being dropped in 3 shots by a vayne when they only have 2 kills an 20 minions above you seems a little shady to me. in any case I still feel cheated. to be fair, we never really stood a chance in the first place.

At the end of the day no matter how you look at it smurfing is being abused. I would rather them crack down on smurfing and take the punishment to there main account. in any case there is no good way to deal with smurfs. if you ban smurfing all together then the community New players like myself will soon die out in a year or two. I am sure that's why Riot hasn't done anything about this yet but, I hope something gets done soon this is really starting to get on my nerves.

I would say the only issue with making it against the rules is how to enforce it. How can you tell it is a smurf and not someone who has just been playing awhile? Especially in ranked. Or maybe someone who has been practicing in custom games a lot and improved.

well I have thought about that and, My Idea is go with IP address. I do realize this will lead to several issues but, Lets be real If you are playing your friends account, and you log into a smurf and decide to be toxic, and Riot bans your friend instead of you. Maybe he should have picked his friends better.

At the same time this is incredibly flawed as well. The bottom line for this any way should be "Don't share accounts" Which Riot has all ready said "Don't share accounts or we will ban you if we catch it."

Riot has (on multiple occasions) said that they don't care if people smurf. Nothing is going to happen to change this in the foreseeable future. Accept that and move on.

Coming from a platinum player? you wouldn't understand the issue here. the fact of the matter is 60% of the community is in fact Low elo the fact one skilled player can walk into a new game dominate every one by themselves be a complete jerk about ho much better they are then you and walk out with no punishment because, all of there hard work is on there gold account, and Riot hasn't yet invented a way of punishing that yet. Is completely game breaking. Lower skilled gamers like me, get completely ruined.

My team gets toxic at me for not knowing how to play against a higher elo score player when majority of the entire game struggles against players of that skill. I challenge you to make a smurf, Pretend to be completely new, not breaking character for ANY reason. I am talking about fully new player stats, the works. 60minions 20 minutes in the game. Building some random thing you don't know what it does because, well you aren't sure what to build except SOMETHING because something is better then nothing. See for your self the level of crap A new player has to experience. the come back and explain how I am complaining over nothing again.

Riot has never been against smurfing, and never will be.

You can keep complaining all you want, but you are going to have exactly 0 impact. Oh and I wasn't always platinum btw. I was stuck in silver 4 during season 3 before I improved my play. So yes, I do know what it's like to play in low elo. Also, why the hell would I waste my time playing on my smurf account and purposely doing bad? That makes literally 0 sense, I don't even understand what you're trying to prove by asking me to do that.

I am saying for a new player who doesn't understand the game yet I stand ZERO chance against these people. you are off in fantasy land pretending like this problem doesn't exist and I am an idiot. Now you are claiming it has nothing to do with anything, Go through and see what I see. there Jerk wads are ruining the lower skill level players gaming experience.

I'm sure that smurfing is a problem for you, I never said it wasn't. I never said that smurfing doesn't affect anyone. I'm simply saying that complaining about it is pointless because it is officially supported by Riot.

how is this different from any other video game? a new player who doesn't understand CoD is going to have ZERO chance when he steps into his first pvp game. he will lose for a while and he will learn. no big deal.

they are all rude, or at least the ones I have seen. Which only adds to the problem. Its not them being better then me, though it does seem very one-sided at times. Its just the fact they have to rub in how much better they are.

Smurfing has been a plague of lower elos and new players since LoL's release. I'm honestly surprised that any new players stay to reach level 30 anymore. They're exposed to more toxicity and unfair matches than any of us would like to believe.

Well yes but, How do you go about fixing it? I mean, At this point I am sure almost every one has at least 1 smurf account, with the exception of a few of the newer players such as myself. It so far has created a bad experience. League of legends looks like a great game but, the community needs time to grow up combine that with this next statement there is basically no actual punishment. again all of the stuff they care about is on there main.

How? IP checking, mandatory email verification, checking to see if the two accounts (main and smurf) have ever been online at once, gameplay patterns (Riot uses this method currently to check for elo boosting), referral fraud checking (people are likely to refer their main with their smurfs), comparing passwords, etc. Cracking down on smurfing isn't impossible to do, but Riot doesn't want to address the issue because a lot of veteran players smurf. It's a glaring problem: it promotes toxicity, it ruins the game for new players, it allows for refer-a-friend fraud, etc. I'm just glad I missed out on the worst of it by playing the old version of Twisted Treeline and teaming up with some senior players I knew when I was working my way to level 30. I'm sorry that your thread is getting downvoted by smurfs and their mains.

there are still issues like that like, different email addresses, IP address can be changed. if 2 accounts are on the same time maybe they had 2 computers to play with there little brother/friend. referral fraud falls under the category of email and IP you can get past it by having un-identicle email addresses, and changing your IP address.

Its times like this I wish I had 4 awsome platinum friends, and give these players what they have coming. About my thread being down voted to, I am disappointed they don't see what I have to go through. I wish they would at least take themselves back to the days they were new so they could Simulate this experience for themselves. this is literally pushing me out of the game all by its self.

I have to say i have met nice ones and i have seen people accuse others of being smurfs because they are doing well. i think smurfing shouldnt matter if they are mean then report them and ignore them.

I don't mean I think they were smurfing I men, No doubt they were deffenitly smurfs. 180-230 minions 20 minutes in. there builds were stupid Infinity Edge, bloodthirster, Last Whisper. Anything just turned into wet toilet paper standing in front of vayne

High elo players should not be unable to play with their friends just because they are higher elo. Smurfs allow high elo players to play with their new friends and as for ranked, most smurfs want to climb in elo not place themselves lower than they belong.

that's not accurate, I know for a fact this game is full of trolls. that's the kind of thing I am talking about. because dicky dipshit keeps me from having an enjoyable game. never before have I heard a statement so misplaced "They don't care for lower." Never before have I heard a more contradictory statement. I know professional players do this kind of crap like that hai kid. I have seen streamers like Geranimo do this crap.

So, tell me I am wrong again? if a pro does it, every one peobably does it.

It only takes about 4 - 8 PVP games for the system to recognize that you're a smurf and will match you against other smurfs.

What they should do is allow low ranked people to anti smurf, let them into a diamond level game and just fuck every one over. Maybe then the smurfs would gain some god damn empathy and stop being elitist fuckwits chasing after their 3rd diamond account to stroke their e-peen. Smurfs are absolute garbage for this game, but riot's too lazy to do anything about it, so at least give us some ammo we can use on their mains.

honestly your best bet is to roll with friends or join a community till 30 and learn to mute people early i smurf sometimes but it really blows my mind seeing people on smurf accounts trolling people who have no chance of winning like there is literally no reason to be rude on a smurf account and i personally feel you should be giving advice POLITELY if you see someone is having a hard time learning. just my two cents. me and my friends are usually willing to play with new players.
