I will be honest here (might get a lot of hate).
The skin itself takes skins to a whole new level with the team-dj mechanic. It is clever and different...two things that should always be emphasized by riot. I especially like the last dj track she has.
Unfortunately, this skin comes at a high cost. I personally (my opinion) dislike the visual of the skin. It doesn't seem sona to me like all her other skins do, and its quite sad. The cheerful sona is now......high tech and darker,,,,,not my thing. I cannot exactly put my finger on it (someone help), but it just doesn't have the charm that arcade, guqin, muse, and silent night have.
I applaud riot on their hard work, you have made a lot of players happy, but I do not want to get a skin for a neat gimmick that looks less attractive to me.
On a side note, I used to play sona all the time so I am no band-wagon Sona player. My favorite support is probably Soraka (her rework made her so interactive (the equinox) and rewarding (dem heals) to me). Soraka was the support that I got to level 30 to with :") and that's hard to beat (ha music puns).
On one last side note, I played against a DJ sona yesterday that the other team raged about on and on. Apparently she never switched songs (40 minute game). She told me that she played with muted volume because she disliked all her music. I don't like to judge but I think thats kind of funny. Me and the sona got along all game actually and it was pretty fun. Its reasons like this that I like blind pick so much more than draft. The memorable games and crazy team comps never end.

Too true. But don't worry, I'm pretty sure that Sona mains (like myself) aren't even using her right now due to the influx. I personally have been practicing other roles, and using Annie to counter the Sonas if I do go support.
Just wait for a week or so and the surge will die down and people who actually know what they're doing will be able to play their fav champ again.

You know it's a problem when you get a Sona main like myself who bought the skin because, well, she's my main. I get told "Please don't suck." and after the game gets going I hear "Finally, one who knows what they're doing"; even from the ENEMY TEAM.
Yeah. People can buy the skin and play her all they want. But they should at least know how to play her before spamming her in normals.
I agree, I have seen a lot of support Sona now. The day it came out I tried to find a team builder game as Thresh and it took me 4 minutes to find a game (Never takes that long as support role xD) I understand the hype, and them wanting to show off the skin but they really should buy wards ;)
Didn't someone post this exact thread about support Vel'Koz using Arclight? You don't need to go support to show off a skin..
Some people are saying isn't meta anymore.
You should definitely get it though. I got a free kill on a nidalee last night with Soraka because I was warding and she was too low when she got close to me.
I don't play for skins but wanted to ask if I should buy the ultimate skin or use my RP for something better
