when people don't like you for the way you play

i have at least 2750 games on league, of this I'm sure. The meta bores me so I try to find new ways of playing. cho adc and singed adc are quite fun with the right supports. I also like draven top. Many games i run into individuals...sometimes a group of invdividuals...who just don't think it's possible to play outside of the meta. If I have a bad game........they become quite toxic towards me and usually report me at the end of the game. well i've received enough reports and now have to have limited chat for 37 games, OH BOY!!!!

This is my life. I feel you, brother.

I never run flash on support. I main support. I've been running exh/heal since season2 because it was popular to towerbait. I'm comfortable playing like this.

I constantly get people calling me a troll, saying they're just going to play passive because they don't trust me, and people even threaten to feed because they don't have faith in me.

God forbid I get caught out of position ONCE. 'That wouldn't have happened if you'd had flash!' 'Sure wish you had flash, don't you!'

A lot of people play purely to win so in a competitive mindset they would rather see what they know works. You can't really be mad at people for having their own views about how they wish the game to be played.

I don't know how competitively you guys play but in my experience playing ranked I have only seen non-meta picks and unusual summoners in Bronze and Silver (I am Plat now). This happens because in the higher ranks people realize what works and what works consistently and it becomes the meta and the meta exist to make a team and composition as efficient as possible in the eyes of the community and in what statistically appears to be happening.

If you notice that SlytherMinn and Krigjer both don't follow the meta, they also bother have less than a 50% winrate in ranked which means they aren't climbing. And you MOONMO0N you have played nearly 3000 games and last season you were bronze you would think with that many games played you would be skilled enough (even not playing the meta) to be a higher rank.

Perhaps you guys should improve your skill and show people that off meta can work. Become Diamond running Heal/Exhaust supports and prove to people that it doesn't matter or never run Flash and reach Challenger. It just appears now that the majority of people who do off meta are also "bad" at the game so it creates a negative connotation.

TLDR: I love when people play weird stuff, it keeps the game interesting. However, if they lock something weird or possibly not as easy to do, I may check their match history and if they are 0-15 on something off meta, at that point it's trolling and their team should just AFK or report them (or dodge if you check before the last lock in).

I think two things are true, it's a game and it should be fun, and also actions speak louder than words.

The first means that you should definitely be able to play what you like rather than what is expected. I played w/ an ADC lulu who was nice, didn't feed in lane, and did just fine. Didn't matter if she did great or not, she didn't do bad and so it would be easy to carry her if need be. In contrast I quit playing adc bc I was so bad at it I was a detriment to my team. That second part is important, maybe it's just because I only play ranked (and bots for fwotd) , but if someone plays something weird, but lets me know how it CAN work, and I can adjust to that so they can succeed, I'm totally happy with that. If they play something that is bad, or they are just bad at and know it, then it makes my game unpleasant because even if I do well, I have to do better than that because I have to counteract some one who is actively playing something they are bad at.

Second, I'll judge things much more on how you play in game than what is expected. If you do great on a weird pick, I'm gonna honor you bc it was different and made my game more fun. If you do terrible I may fuss, I may just ask if you main that and it usually works. If you play something off meta a bunch and have a 20-30% win rate I'm gonna feel justified to AFK and go watch tv or something because you're playing something you know is shitty bc you don't do well w/ it, and I shouldn't have the obligation to play against people who are going to inherently have an advantage against me (since I have a weaker teammate) when I could do something better with my time.

If it is in ranked that you did this, you deserve those reports. You want people to have faith in you? You're a stranger. You're nobody to everyone who doesn't know you. Why the hell would they put their faith in some guy who is clearly bored with the current meta and just wants to do something different that he's never done before?

Riot made team builder for people who want to try off meta things. This is also what bots are for (although bots are hardly a viable way of testing new off meta things.)
