Twisted Fate and Lich Bane

So I enjoy playing TF but I've always wondered about Lich Bane. Does it proc with his W or is it the following basic attack afterwards?

It procs as you cast it. The next auto will be the card you lock in on. If you don't select a card or auto with the card you selected lich bane will still be active for the next regular auto until it times out
