What even are these random free skins

Occasionally some skins are randomly given out. In my friend group we get them at random times, and not the same skins. Any clue what's the deal with them? A while ago I got Temple Jax and today I got Riot Kayle. I don't even know I have them, they just show up in my purchase history. "Riot Kayle, 0 IP, Non Refundable" What gives?

Rewards for good behavior. Every once in a while Riot bears gifts.

Do they show up in your Gifting History? If they don't, then I'd check with Riot Support.

All the ones I see listed like that in my history are from loot. Did you guys unlock those from the loot system by chance?

Riot Kayle was a free skin that Riot gave out when they made changes to something about the game. I forget what it was now.
