People play full-damage supports because they think the role is boring and want to experiment with other stuff. I personally say let them, as unless they're actively trolling the team then there's really no harm in it.

I got carried by a lux support not too long ago, it was okay for me, she did take my CS without asking though but then we both kind of scaled at the same time until her mejai started to get loaded. Vision CAN be covered by yellow, blue trinkets and control wards, though it's definitely not optimal.

Maybe it's time for the support role to be retired except in high level/professional play. Most players are literally too dumb and too entitled to handle it. Just look at all the auto-fill rage from people who refuse to simply learn some supports on the premise they MIGHT have to play them once every 15-20 games.

Meanwhile, players who are happy or at least willing to play support at lower levels have to deal with teams who it's useless to ward for because they don't even look at the map and expect their support to somehow always stop them from dying no matter how careless they are.

Honestly, with the position adc's are in right now, I personally think that it's fine. You kinda either need to go a hyper carry support like zyra or a roam support like bard to have a super meaningful impact in the game. It's just the way the meta is.
