Chat Restriction Does Help

Earlier I got a chat suspension due to admittedly toxic behavior, Cough cough gank my lane once in a while Volibear cough cough

Anyways. It's really improved my winrate depressingly. Since I'm no longer busy being a keyboard warrior, and the system is preventing me from flaming my team it's actually been quite helpful in accomplishing things. I've become a lot more respectful in game and have been actively helping people, due to the 4 minute I'm given to think about between each message I can't jump to an irrational response, it forces you to stop, think, realise what will happen if you do say it and what it will mean.

What I'm trying to say is, just take a deep breath. Sounds cliché, but just that momentary pause before you hit enter, "Does this shit really need to be said? I mean it raises a good point, but it's also like having 5 people ignite him at once." If that comes to mind, don't hit enter. You can't solve toxicity with toxicity. Someone feeding? Help them get back in the game. Someone being toxic in chat? Be kind. Don't bite the bait, and make them feel happy about the game, not bullying someone in chat.

One tilted player can be the difference from that +17 lp and that -21 (I live a sad life with a sad w/r)

Stay positive! [vlad-salute]

I am really thinking about unbinding my enter key in this game. I see no reason to use chat at all, since most game related things can be explained with pings. So yes, I agree with you.

"Does this shit really need to be said?"<

This. I'm not restricted myself, but I've been perma'd 6 times. I've finally learned to keep my calm. Chat restrictions didn't really help me change my behavior, but the philosophy in your quote did. I barely type anymore, I'm playing better than before, and I'm having way more fun than before. Every time I type something in chat, I question myself 'does this really have to be said' and 'does this contribute anything to the game'? If no, I delete it. It's working very well for myself, but that would only work if one can control himself. Have fun in the game and good luck reforming! :)

"Does this shit really need to be said?"

In fairness, sometimes it does need to be said, but you can also pay attention to how it is said. I once commented on a jungle Udyr's timing for a gank. I had been playing Swain and was down to 400 HP vs a relatively healthy (~550 HP) LeBlanc running Electrocute (meaning one good combo of abilities and an AA would kill me under tower, which is super tilting) and I had been staying in lane waiting for him to come in from behind her and cut her off. I manage to survive the fight with roughly 200 HP to her 100 HP and the Support of all people got the kill (which, I mean, good for him). I told Udyr to come sooner next time. His response was "muted". But upon further explanation (since people type 'muted' but rarely ever do so when they do type that), I think I made a good point. I put myself in a very compromising position in order to make it possible to kill her and he took his sweet time getting there. I didn't really appreciate it and had been asking for assistance that he could have provided for roughly 2 minutes. He didn't need to go and clear his raptors for an item (and I considered briefly clearing part of it for him - which probably would have made him super salty and not willing to gank my lane) but nevertheless, I only made it apparent to him that my comments were oriented on tactics and not flaming in any way. We ended up winning.

TL;DR is make it very evident when commenting on things to leave no room for interpretation of any kind. I've made many comments about losing game because "Top Lane Tryndamere fed Darius 7 times and didn't give him any respect". I've not been banned yet. You cannot be banned for stating facts about how the game has gone, or by asking for help. You can get banned for saying stupid stuff like "Tryndamere kys" or "Fking Tryndamere fed Darius GG"...

I should also note that I myself have had 3 accounts permabanned so I totally understand the whole "I don't learn to control myself until Riot permabans me". My first account ever got banned the day before I graduated college for something I look back at and say it wasn't worth it.
