The 1% of players are trolls claim.

So I decided to start keeping track for a while since Riot always claims it's only 1% of the players that cause problems, and they claim that my seeing significantly more than that is just my mind playing tricks on me. So after making a log, I found that a little over 21% of the players I get paired up with are toxic to the point of deserving reports. 60% of the games I played were ruined by trolls, since they ended up wanting to argue/grief more than they wanted to play the actual game. This is far from the stats that Riot has posted before, and even after sending the log to Riot support, they don't even seem to care. So it looks like this is how things are going to be. Garbage community that Riot just lies about and when you prove to them it's really that bad, they just ignore you :(

I think we need to make it a serious point to tell them that having at least a decent community is extremely important for the longevity of the game. If you keep letting people go down these roads, sure you'll still have players down the line, but they'll basically all be trained to not even type anything without flaming someone, and all the people who prefer reasonable communication will go play something else.

Edit: Why come in here and downvote everything I say and just leave without explaining yourself? You're undermining the entire point of the forums.

This really depends on definitions. Riot is likely talking about people who only want to ruin the day of other people, where as you're likely talking about people who are frustrated or having an off day and finally snap. One is a constant problem that can be easily measured, where as the other is a temporary thing that rarely lasts more than a game or two.

There is a huge difference between someone who is trolling and someone who is a troll, and I don't think you're making that distinction.

Their support staff are the most useless support staff on the face of this earth. Literally only respond with copy and pasted answers that sometimes have nothing to do with anything you said to them. You can tell them to read what you are saying, to give are a real response and they will still answer with a copy and pasted answer its the most frustrating company to deal with. Where do they even find their staff? Cant run a support line, cant run a server, cant run the boards, cant run the new merch store. Just all around useless company.

could we have a little more info? what did you deem "trolling" when making the log? you said over 21% of the players you played with were toxic enough to be reported. being toxic isn't necessarily trolling (granted you can be toxic and troll at the same time). what does riot define "trolling" as? what game type were you playing? it's certainly possible that the concentration of "trolls" is higher in certain levels of play and game modes. it's possible that certain servers have higher numbers of trolls or even certain times of year (any time there's a break from school might result in a spike of "trolling") have higher amounts of trolling.

If I reported them I put them in the troll category as far as the stats. If they were just a random jerk temporarily but stopped and continued to play the game(which is kinda rare cause the random jerkiness spawns arguments usually), they were not included. The trolls may have not all technically been trolls, but they are problem players for one reason or another. This ranges from someone constantly being negative or insulting whenever they spoke(which distracts everyone from the tasks at hand) to the guy who spends the entire game trying to grief whoever he's mad at(and thus the entire team).

Bad day or not, if someone crosses the line where the game is secondary and the insulting/blaming/arguing/griefing is primary, they deserve a report. This is pretty much normal behavior on here and it really needs to change before everyone just accepts that this is always going to be a game full of toxic raging players.

If riot said 1% of the community is "toxic" and your sample size is less than a fraction of 1% then... maybe you're gasp wrong? I agree with redniwedis... you are giving a statistic without a proper sample size, without a proper definition, and without proper oversight.

For instance you could say I am trolling or being toxic because I am disagreeing with you, now would riot consider me toxic for this? I doubt it, we have no idea what your definition is.

Do I think riot is being honest with their "1%" stat? No, no I don't, but you know what? They are a company and they are interested in ONE thing, making money, no matter what they tell you just realize that fact. If they made no money off this game then they wouldn't make it, update it, make new champs, have casters, have e-sports, have events, etc...
