Maybe Riot should give an emergency pass.

So, seeing two recent threads, one about a person who had to almost afk because his grandfather had died literally downstairs, and another about someone who was having heart palpitations and almost went to the hospital, it seems like there needs to be an exception. With so many people playing league 24/7, things happen, and sometimes they are extreme emergencies.

Maybe there should be a one free pass the punishment on AFK from a game per account. Or maybe one per year. It's not much, and hopefully cant be abused, but would be useful in emergencies. If a family member of mine died and there was an emergency, I'd rather not have more problems and an account punishment on top of a funeral. Just a thought, there is room to argue in comments.

There is a free pass - in fact multiple free passes. You don't start getting punishments until you afk / dodge multiple games. System has a lot of fluff to soak up before penalties arrive.

True, you don't get the hammer right off the bat. It still is in your records, though, which seems a little unfair. There are way too many other unfair things for it to matter tho xD

It is in your record but it is expected that everyone is going to have some issues. Taking away the need for more infractions and giving a couple free passes to get leaves "off your record" wouldn't really change anything. The 1 improvement I can see is that the punishment would have happened on the previous leave before the emergency instead of right after w/e emergency. But how do you actually verify these situations? What would stop me from just walking away and saying it was an emergency?

I actually think the generic leniency is better. I wish they would do a better job emphasizing that the low priority queue was for your history of leaving, and not just that 1 incident. Which is I think how most people feel when they get the punishment.

True. My friend had to leave a game as soon as it started because his wife's water broke. No penalty, because he doesn't AFK unless it's that sort of thing.

It's only a problem when you have a tendency to AFK, and at that point it wouldn't matter if it was you being rushed to the hospital or having to take the trash out mid game.
