Camera View: Lock or Unlock?

I don't know if this is just a preference, but I always lock my camera in my games. But do a lot of people play with their camera unlocked? I don't personally see the benefit (it seems harder for me, particularly in case I accidentally move the screen away from my player), and if I need to see elsewhere on the screen I use the mini map. Anyway, I'm just curious about people's opinions! If you could leave commentary on why you prefer a particular usage, that'd be cool :P

you cant be locked camera if you want to be good. your view is just much better when you can put the camera wherever you want. if you are locked you are going to be getting hit by stuff from offscreen with no warning where if you were unlocked you would be able to see it coming.

I learned to play with camera locked and tend to prefer it, especially during intense fighting 1v1/teamfights. But during laning phase/when roaming or when a potential teamfight is approaching I'll always have my camera unlocked just so I have a better sense of what's going on outside of my immediate vision range.

I've actually wanted to try and start using locked camera when I'm playing an ADC/position reliant champion, I just don't remember to do so. Anyways, I've always had my camera unlocked because it lets me view things around the map. I prefer to look further then where my character is because usually that space is more of a threat to me. I can put more of a "danger" zone under my personal view then have half of it taken up by space I consider "safe".

When I first tried playing on unlocked camera, it felt really weird and was hard to play. I fed a lot. But after a few games I got the hang of it and my play began to improve drastically. I really recommend playing on unlocked, even though it will feel uncomfortable for a while. Also, instead of have 'y' be to toggle camera lock, have it be to "center on champion" or whatever. that way if you lose track of yourself you can just tap 'y' and be back to you!

If you accidentally move your camera away, tap your spacebar and you immediately re-lock onto your champion.

Unlocked camera allows you to check other areas of the game, especially if you need to check fro ganks, as the mini-map is... eh.
