I feel like when you buy chests with rp, or even just earn them, your chances of getting a champion shard should be much lower than skin/ward skin shards. I just bought 5 boxes and got 5 champ shards and a gemstone. Kinda feel cheesed. And I emphasis this even more considering that I own all the champions I want. I mean you can literally buy champion shards.
Technically it is less common to get a champion shard than a skin, because there are way more skins than champions. So it might have just been bad luck. From my perspective it might look like there are nearly no champions in the chests (I have opened ~ 25 chests, but only got ~4 champs). These chests are made for random loot. If you want a specific skin just buy it instead of the chests. If you don't know if you want a champ, skin or ward then buy the chests
