New player experiences

As I read through the summoner's code, I always get stumped by number 8, leave no newbie behind. It says that the best way to respect those who taught you is to pass it along by teaching those that come after you. I appreciate and respect this guideline, but find it hard to teach anyone as there is no way, aside from personally knowing someone, to even hook up with new players. If you are outside their skill level you will not be matched with them, that's just the way that the MMR system is designed to work.

I know that in the past it has been proposed to have a mentoring system of some type, and even a chat would be beneficial. I know that there is a noob chat channel in the client, but if anyone has ever opened it, you would find that there is nothing more than a bunch of smut and spam filling it up, not to mention that most noobs wouldn't even know to look for it until they were past the early stages of learning. I still support the mentor idea, even if it is on 3's where there is 1 experienced player and 2 new players, working together to learn the game. Maybe in 5's where there are 2 experienced players and 3 new players. Anything to allow the ones who have been here a while to work with those who haven't.

I know a lot of people will say that new players should just check out the boards, but I know that when I was learning the game, I didn't even come to the main website until I was level 25, at which point I was learning to refine some of the smaller things in my game, not learning the game as a whole. I understand that I am just a bronzie and that there isn't much many people would think I could offer, but at the same time I did teach some of my friends the game and because of this headstart they have been able to get to silver and gold in their first ranked season.

TLDR: Riot we need a way to help new players, I know that your collaborative brains can come up with something other than the smut filled chat room you have. I enjoy teaching new players and I feel somewhat insulted that you instruct us to help new players but give us no way to find them.

Well the summoner's code doesn't say to seek out new players, just not to leave them behind. I think its more of an "if you happen to run into a newbie, don't mock his noobishness, instead help him along" kind of thing.

If you really want to find noobs just make a smurf.

/sigh this goes back to there being no real, legitimate way to find new players. A mentoring queue would be much more effective and much more friendly. People who WANT to be mentored could queue up to be paired with one, and people who WANT to mentor could be paired up with newbies. This more effective than trying to help someone who doesn't care to get help and spend countless matches looking for someone who wants help.
