why you shouldn't lose lp on a dodge

TL;DR lp lose on dodges punish good behavior players for being matched with toxic players(use only time penalties), also read the chat log below

I lost 10 lp on a dodge because of a toxic player... way to punish me for having a toxic player TY Riot

for context (my pick) pick 1: Jarvan 4- jungle pick 2: Teemo- top, was gonna be laning against a Darius so its a hard counter too pick 3:Graves-ADC pick 4 :Nasus-troll(forced his way top) :P pick 5: Alistar- support

  • the only part of the chat log i was able to copy before i dodged... prior to this was just lane calling, pref's,bans, etc and just before this cut off Nasus picked Nasus and we had the "Nasus why" comments

  • also replaced summoner names with champion names(still have the summoner names though)

Nasus: teemo go mid Nasus: plz Nasus: teemo top is shit Teemo: no Teemo: you go mid Graves: wtf Nasus: eat a dick' Graves: nasus Teemo: nasus mid? Graves: teemo is top Nasus: teemo top is shit Nasus: hes ap Nasus: has range Nasus: why not go mid Alistar: nasus mid? Teemo: against darius dumb fuck Nasus: i guess its duo top Teemo: im not laning against jayce

  • I then dodged, i mean who wants to play this match at this point... and you cant seriously expect to win

the point of this is i hate that you lose lp on dodges it should just be large time penalties i get people abuse dodges and the lp lose is supposed to be a deterrent but at the same time your punishing players who actually have to use the "dodge" method... i wouldn't mind having to wait a 10-30 minutes+ to play again shoot ban me for 24 hours i dont care... but dont take lp that is just beyond frustrating and actully sets you back in the "league" system

i don't know i look at it like the way legal systems are set up i would rather see 10 guilty people walk free than 1 innocent person get convicted

same thing goes for the dodge system i would rather see people go unpunished(lp wise) for abusing it as long as the one player who actually needs it doesn't get punished

without this Lp penalty id be challenger.

seriously, id make a handful of accounts, if i dodge on 1, ill just move to the next, as to avoid the timer punishment.

id sit in champ selection, and lolnexus them...see if they're good, id make sure everyone has decent champions. id make sure the team comp is okay. If not, Dodge and move to the next account and play. Rinse and repeat till all my accounts are diamond 1. :)

oooo! but this LP punishment. MyOhMy, that completely counters this method of climbing the ladders, gee oh gee riot, thanks a bunchies. you sure saved my butt, i was about to abuse this to be in an elo i dont deserve. gosh that would have been really horrible!

i guess ill just stick to normal ranked queues, and climb normally. that way im in a rank i deserve! thanks riot for looking out for my well being <3 You Da Best. Love you Riot.

According to rito, this actually isn't a problem at all. The only problem, according to the intellects at rito, with the game is the "toxic" behavior that Graves and Teemo were showing.

but then you have the people who are like "oh i didnt get my role guess i dodge now withno penalty really"

The reality is that with no dodge penalty, games would take forever to start because at the first sign of anything that didn't look like your ABSOLUTE IDEAL TEAM people would dodge.

On paper, I agree with you. But the reality is that dodge penalties are necessary. To me, dodging is already too common with the current penalties.

Also, for the things I want to dodge basically any penalty is worth it. Like if someone is an asshole in champ select I would probably dodge even if it counted as a full loss. And that's kind of the point. To give you a reason not to dodge. If you think the penalty isn't worth avoiding that game then you shouldn't dodge.

If anything I would say maybe look a little deeper than just how many dodges someone has done that day. So that the penalty for someone who dodges once a month isn't the same as someone who dodges once a day.

Guess what? There was a time where Riot used only moderate to large time penalties for dodging in a ranked game. You want to know why they no longer do that? Because people didn't care about that time penalty when dodging. There were so many dodges during that time that it was pretty difficult to get a game to actually start. There's an LP loss for dodging to discourage people from doing it unless they actually need (i.e. there's a troll in champ select, or maybe an irl thing suddenly comes up).

Also, the LP loss is very minimal, unless you dodge multiple games within a certain time period.
