You really don't want to ask other people this question, all it does it bring out the fan boys and a console war. With that said though, all it comes down to is personal preference. Which controller do you prefer? Do you want a little bit more powerful console? Which interface do you like more? Which exclusives do you want more? Etc. I have two Xbox Ones and I will not say it is better then the PS4. The reason I bought it over the PS4 though is because the majority of my friends were getting it and I love Halo. Not too mention if COD decides to be good again, even though Ghosts was a complete let down, we get early DLC. Lastly, I always liked the Xbox controller more than the PS controller. PS controller was always too small for my hands.

Personally I feel that the PS4 provides more. And having played Destiny Alpha and Beta on the PS4, as well as pre-ordering the game for that system, I can tell you that it plays extremely smoothly and looks gorgeous.

I would recommend looking into the list of exclusive titles for each console to see if either of those interest you. Look into distinguishing features and the hardware differences (though largely insignificant for console if we're being honest). If you haven't played with either controller before, I would suggest trying to get your hands on them to see which feels better and which you feel more comfortable holding. Finally, another consideration is what console or system your friends use. Myself, I'm the only one if my group with a current generation console, so for me it came down to the cheaper cost of the PS4 (pre-ordered) and the exclusive game library (since the only exclusive worth anything on the Xbox One to me is Halo, and that isn't worth purchasing an entire console in my opinion). I've also had a lot better customer support from Sony in my personal experience and have had to repeatedly replace Xbox products after customer support refusing to follow through on my warranty despite photographic evidence.
