I think I should do this every time this happens. Since I'm not 30 yet I don't do it for normals though, so I end up staying in queue and regretting it. I've done it a few times if u have lots of time and something else to do in those 5 minutes, but otherwise it doesn't work out for me.

After 2 brutal Games last night, both of which were after someone dodged and I thought I might get in to trouble (and both times really regretted staying in queue, the games were disastrous) I thought perhaps I should go teambuilder or blinds for a game if it happens (I normally play Draft). I see that this doesn't work in ranked but it's something to keep in mind for normals.

You don't get tagged for Leaverbuster for dropping queue, or for declining a match either for that matter. The system only counts dodges once you have entered champion select and in-game AFKs/disconnects.

Just an FYI, so you don't feel bad about dropping queue in the future.

I'm fairly certain Leaverbuster doesn't pay attention to champion select, actually. Only in-game.

EDIT: Nouns are better than pronouns for clarity. That is all.

I was unclear on what I meant by that point. You get a timed restriction for dropping out of Champion Select, which increases in duration the more often you drop. Thanks for pointing that out.

EDIT: Also, if it is a ranked queue, you will still lose a nominal amount of LP for dodging (usually around 3 LP if I'm not mistaken) as an added punishment for delaying the matchmaking in that queue.

The short penalty you receive for dodging games from champ select is not related to Leaverbuster. It's separate, and seems to exist primarily to ensure that those dodges don't lead to impossibly long queue lengths.

But you're right, there is a penalty.

(The context of this conversation feels very strange. If I'm restating something you're aware of, Navarune, or had already realized, feel free to ignore this. I just wanted to be sure that my earlier statement doesn't sound like nonsense.)

We're on the same page, then. :) My original statement made it sound like the penalty for dodging at Champion Select was "part of" the Leaverbuster system, but my intended meaning was that there is a penalty for such action, which it itself is part of the entire system designed to combat these delays in queue.

You do get noticed for dodges in champion select (to the other person's comment here). With respect to dodging queue (declining) I read that there is something to prevent you repeatedly declining matches and re-queueing but I'd imagine if used for this purpose you would never violate it and I think the penalty is only a re-queue timeout.

It's not that I feel guilty for dodging queue in game, it's in life. Like I'm looking to take a quick break from studying and play a game (whether it's 20 min or an hour) I feel like if I start dodging queues and throw in the Draft timer my study break becomes the thing I'm focusing on and I am instead taking breaks from league to study :p.

Once I get to ranked (and don't have exams to write) I'll treat these things more seriously for sure, although I always have the intention of starting now.

You will get a temporary ban on queueing up if you repeatedly decline matches, similar to what happens after you dodge. These do NOT contribute to your "leaver level" for LeaverBuster.

i dont know if you guys started a new topic on the comment section but im talking about if someone "else" leaves and i can still play without time restriction and i already seen who i was paired up , and i didnt like them. i can wait like 2-3 minutes and requeue so i dont have a chance to be with the 4 people i was with.

Call it a tangential conversation. Related, but indirectly.

In the case you describe, I tend to just wait about a minute or so, depending on how long it took me to join the game in the first place. I find that's usually just about long enough for them to find another game.

I also do it any time I have 2 or more dodgers in a row, just to clear the queue, as it were.
