League is about OBJECTIVES, Not "KILLS"

I am really getting sick and tired of this notion that in order to win the game, you have to have the most kills. I have been seeing it more and more in my teams. I am a support so I am forced to watch helplessly in ranked. I notice a particular pattern. Teammates will wait in a particular spot (usually in lane). After the first few kills (yeah they are important, I know). The teammate will go into a cycle where all they do is spend the next 30 minutes Farming kills instead of minions. They chase kills instead of even THINKING of going after towers. They will abandon thier supports to get 2v1'ed while they run off top lane to try and snag a few easy kills from top lane. They will then just go into a cyle once they are sufficient enough: Kill, Back, Return (to thier previous position), wait, Kill, back, return...."

In the meantime. Towers will go completely untouched. Even after 30-40 minutes I have had games where bot/mid tower is completely untouched, the enemy has 3+ dragons that they got FOR FREE, completely unchallenged. And These Kill farmers will sit and brag and pat themselves on the back.

AND THEN when the enemy (who actually ganks, who actually goes after towers and objectives, and actually tries to win) approaches our base, these players are completely DUMBFOUNDED on Why the match is being lost "But But but....I have the most kills on the team?! HOW ARE WE LOSING" and usually they will turn around and call to report jungle or support. Because of course it is always the supports fault...or jungle. The Worst part about this is the greed of having "The most kills on the team" ends up impacting the rest of the team. Players are so focussed on having the most kills that they will DENY KILLS TO THIER TEAM. They will swoop in and take all the kills. Teammates try and get kills so they can survive and contribute, but the player will sweep in and take those kills as well.

And worse than that, They will then turn around and berate thier team for not having "as many kills as me" "Omg my team is so trash, I have to carry the team" Players wouldnt have to "carry the team" if they were actually allowed kills so that they can support themselves.

I keep telling people, But I am just the support so anything I say is meaningless and just pointless rambling. Support isnt actually part of the team.

League of legends is like chess, 5 players moving to strategically take objectives, If Each Pawn (Player) ONLY cares about how many enemy pieces THEY capture (Most Kills, Bruh) Then they give up the Checkmate (Nexus Destruction) for the sake of thier own personal greed.

If all people care about is sitting around and farming kills without going for objectives so they can pat themselves on the back and say "look how great I AM" then why bother playing a TEAM BASED GAME, sinse the player obviously has no interest in working with the team and sees thier team as little more than "Witnesses" to thier own personal glory.

Of course I am sure people will completely dismiss my arguement because of "insert stat here" or "ur a bronze" or some pointless strawman like that.

This is League. Kills are fine, But OBJECTIVES WIN MATCHES. If all you care about is "I haz most kills" then you miss the point of a TEAM BASED GAME.

Good luck going for objectives against a 10/0 Lee and an 8/0 Vayne. Objectives win the game but in order to get objectives you have to be strong enough to put pressure. Stop saying "Objectives win the game" to justify being 0/8. This game need mechanical skills, decision making, team comp, rotation, CS, kills,vision, map awareness and objectives. and what about the teammates who are under the belief that "All kills are mine by default" and If you take a kill even accidentally, they will cry and scream and throw a tantrum about KS. and Yet as soon as laning phase is over (and sometimes before then) they will run out to other lanes and snatch all the kills before the people in those lanes even have a chance. And then these same players will turn around and blame thier team for being "0/8" when anytime said 0/8 went in for a kill, the player would pop out of nowhere and sweep the kill out from underneath them then respond with "Git Gud Scrub" as they trash and flame thier team over /all chat, talking about how bad thier team is.

Yes I know kills play a part in the game, but most players seem to think Kills are THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS. Its the same reason why people will completely collapse and give up as SOON as the enemy adc goes 1/0. My adc has a complete fit, gives up and throws out a "GG, Im done. Enemy >insert champ< is fed" when they only got one kill, Why? because they feel that kills are the ONLY thing that matters. A successfull claim to a dragon or two could render that advantage moot, but they dont care. All that they are concerned with is kills.

But I am just a lowly disposeable support, so of course anything I say is meaningless. Right? Its not like Supports actually observe the other team or can provide any useful ideas. hmm?

I've had a game where the enemy team was 60+ kills and my team was 13 or something ridiculously small in comparison. (These are not the exact numbers but meant to say there was a HUGE gap between kills) Guess what? We won. We focused on objectives. The enemy team did not. If you only focus on kills and not objectives, you are going to lose.

It's not an excuse. It's a fact. It doesn't excuse bad game play. It is just how the game works.

Now if they focused objectives, we would have lost. We would have gotten rekt in minutes. However, seemingly implying there is no way of winning versus a team that is ignorant about objectives is plain wrong.

There are times to surrender. We should have surrendered if the team wasn't ignorant about objectives. However, that wasn't the case.

There is also cases where (rarely) that a team can die for the sake of getting objectives. I tanked towers before in order to get a win. I died. Yes. I was a tank. I didn't give a rats *** about kills and deaths. I wanted to win. My sight was on the inhibitor. That was the only chance we had and I decided to die for the win.

I also do that for Overwatch. I don't care if my team was ignorant about how that turns the tide of the game or not. I just wanted to finish the bloody game.

Also, I believe that CS gives more gold than kills. (Overtime) I could be wrong. This can also be a game changer as well. How much gold is someone with 7 kills and 20 CS going to have over someone with 250cs and 3 kills?

Yeah as a support I have had games where the moment the first mid tower goes down (I think its refered to as a "Tier 1 Tower") and then all of a sudden someone says "Laning phase is over" and everyone takes it to mean "Leave your lanes and never return". I have had my adc and the rest of the team abandon the lane. And the sad part is...I have been reported for "Intentional feeding" or "Refusing to help team" when I see that no one has even dared to touch the bottom Tier 1 tower. So I go down and chip away at it, get jumped by a 3v1 (because no one knows how to ping MIA apparently)

and because I dared to actually return to MY LANE to try and push MY MINION WAVES....I am labeled a feeder, called a troll, and treated like some outsider who "Doesnt know how to play the game" All because I dont chase kills, I prefer to go after towers, push waves, take dragons, etc.

And Yeah As Is aid, One player will get super fed, and coincidentally, later in game they will go on about how trash thier team is, and how "OP HARD CARRY" they are. When all they did was steal food from the mouths of thier teammates, who are then forced to be starved out when this player takes ALL THE KILLS....From EVERY LANE. As much as they could get thier hands on. And if someone asks them to share the kills, the typical response is just "Git Gud Scrub!"

Also, expecting a support to destroy super minions and save the day. We don't have the damage to do that. I make plays in groups, not sitting around 'farming' minions. What do people expert from support? High damage from building wards? Building support items? What am I supposed to be supporting? My teams imaginary friend?

I've done that. I like Soraka. I also like tanks. Zyra is the only one I can see as a valuable support out of those 4. Can the other's work? Sure. However, Zyra has more CC.

Its so fun when team is last hit, and you are trying to heal while chasing them across the map. You ping to get thier attention but they keep running AWAY FROM YOU. And icing on the cake? They turn around and /all chat about how "completely trash this useless support is, doesnt heal" Yep as a support I actually had an adc that ABANDONED his lane because as Sona, I managed to get a kill (barely survived) while adc was at base. Before I know it, He is raging and screaming about how I am "STEALING ADC KILLS" (ones he wasnt even there for, again he was AT SPAWN). So he afks after his temper tantrum, leaves me to try and struggle to defend the lane solo against the Enemy ADC + Support + JUNGLER (who frequently ganks).

So after about 10-20 minutes, and after I end up 0/5. he comes back and starts raging at me about how I am intentionally feeding. and How much I suck at playing and need to "uninstall" People Fail to realise that as a TEAM game, The actions of ONE player has consequences for the OTHER players on the team. Support doesnt help CC enemy, Adc cant get kills = Bottom lane gets lost (btw ganking doesnt ALWAYS have to involve a kill, It can be used to "spook" the enemy team enough to force them to back off which can have an added bonus of the "Cry wolf" effect. Spook them enough and they may not believe you when you really DO come in for a kill. Mental warfare) Jungler doesnt gank ALL lanes (not just the ones they are buddy with) = Lanes are pressured and lost. Objectives and dragons arent taken = No map control and ability to HARRASS = Severe disadvantage.

The way I play support is more of a leash/cc support. I do provide map vision, but I am also poking and ccing the enemy, Not enough to do any real damage, but enough to be a pest. Gets hard to farm when you have someone constantly chipping away at your life bit by bit while an adc lies in wait for last hit.

You dont have to. Rylais+Liandries is all you need for Brand/Zyra, and LB Supp is just a pubstoper.

Sorry, I've climbed from low Silver/high Bronze MMR to Plat two seasons in a row.

If you want to cry and cry and cry that Supports cant do anything then you wont climb.

If you want to listen to someone who has climbed with Support (and Jungle), then maybe you should take some advice.

Honestly it's really frustrating hearing low elos act like know-it-alls and backtalk because I was one myself. And do you know what I did? I asked. I asked and asked and asked on how to get better. Do you know when I joined? Season 2. Guess what? There was no Lolking. No Champion.gg. We had Mobafire which was incredibly shitty. There was no probuilds or anything. Video guides were insanely insanely rare. You were clouded in how to get better unless you actively sought how. And so I did. I kept asking people what I could do to improve. And over a long period of time I did.

Now that I have, I'd like to return the same favor. I'd like to be able to help back.

So it's a piss-off when I hear someone whining about how their "noob teams hold them back" because they outright 100% refuse to change their mentality.

So I'll make you a deal.

If you want, I'll invite you to my private Discord channel, and I'll help give you as much advice as I can. If you take it in, you -will- rise in elo from it.

If you don't, then I hope to god you'll never complain about your shit teams again.

Do you read? I am not going to dive into a fight where we are clearly going to lose. I am also not going to nerf my healing just because some people are stupid enough to use their mobility and movement speed advantage to dive (which also outruns me). Want me to go in 2 v 5? You can do that. Thanks.

I don't use Zyra. She steals CS and I don't have her. I don't use Brand. His CC is not reliable and I do not see him as a support. Same as Annie. These are not supports with crowd control. These are mages with crowd control. (With Zyra as a possible exception.)

If I really want to climb out, I would DUO with a competent ADC. I'm not sacrificing what I like doing in mostly every single game that is and isn't league just because I have a bunch of stupid people on my team. This thing that would be sacrificed would be:

Healing.

I lose when people don't listen to me and win when they do. It's my fault? It's called:

Being unlucky.

It's quite possible.

What is frustrating is when higher elo's think they are the **** when all they do is say "Everyone in normals and bronze deserves to stay unranked or bronze."

You have done that. I have diamond and plat friends who know better than that. I have a diamond friend who said I SHOULD BE IN GOLD. Idgaf what you say if your gonna wall yourself up like that and piss on people. Once you are ready to be civil, maybe I will listen to you. Otherwise, if I really need more help (and actually want to climb out with more than excessive effort), I will ask my friends. Thanks.

I also think "I'm the shit" because I had near-Diamond MMR last season and I have over 10,000 games played.

Also, you put words in my mouth. You accused me of not being smart because I suggested to "2v5". I never once said to do that, ever, at all. I also did not say to dive in first.

No. I'm stuck there not only because of my crappy teams, but because I also queue with friends that are bad at the game as well. I am also playing two accounts. I am trying to get my other to 30. This is what makes me stay in bronze. It's a mentality? Yes. Is it a bad one? No. If I wanted to climb out, I'd be doing more games and doing them without my friends. You didn't bother looking at my MMR, looking at my majority games being normal blind and draft, and etc. I'm not going to leave my friends in the dust just because I want to get good and stay good. This is my mentality, if anything, that is the issue. It's not about me being bad.

You never seen me play. Even if you saw me play, it wouldn't matter. I don't think you are open enough to tolerate me.

The number one thing I need to work on is CS. That is my main issue. However, as a support and jungle, that hardly matters as much as it does other roles.

I know my weaknesses. I'm not calling you bad. I'm not trying to intentionally put words in your mouth. But putting them in my mouth while saying that I can't is terrible.

They never climb.

I'm not kidding, in my 4 seasons of playing I've heard this said by plenty of people.

There is some truth to it, you are correct.

There is some truth to it, you are correct.

I have been playing support sinse season 3, and it saddens me that this is the sort of thing we have to deal with. Supports are there to help, but are treated like the doormats of the match. verbally abused, and thrown under the bus. I really want to get out of bronze but I get adcs who think themselves "god tier" while they throw thier team to the wolves in order to save themselves. :(

We havent been abused that much since Season 2.

Alright I'm gonna be blunt.

You're bottom 16% of the playerbase.

No matter how you look at it, being bottom 16% means you are bad at the game. You are terrible. You are completely not good.

And I don't say this as an insult. Why?

Because we all start off bad. None of us started off as pros. We all started where we'd build Bloodthirster on Ryze or walk into turrets or feed the bots.

Being bad just means either you have inexperience, a bit of a lack of an understanding, or both. There's nothing wrong with being bad, being bad is perfectly okay because at every point we all were.

Not wanting to seek out advice, to seek out help, that-- that is where things get shakey.

Do you think if I intended on being rude, on being a jerk, on being an asshole that I would offer to loan my own time? This is time I could be spending elsewhere. I'm not getting paid to do it and I don't expect a single thing in return. I'm offering to donate my time to help you improve and nothing more.

To hear passive aggressiveness and insults and "no u were doing it, no u were insulting" is frustrating.

But I dont care that it is because I have gone through this before, and I still stand by just wanting to help people.

Just got out of a match that was pretty much one of the things that push my buttons. Thankfully we won the match, But had an Arrogant Fizz who got angry when the team asked him to SHARE THE KILLS. Post game Kdas Sona (Me): 3/6/7 Jhin: 6/6/10 Jax: 4/8/3 Fizz: 23/4/5 Nocturne: 6/7/7

The team asks him to stop taking all the kills or at least help the TEAM get some kills and his response is "you want kills? Take them from me, if you can" He pushed solo the whole match, did not help his team (who were constantly getting jumped and ambushed while he was off farming kills) and in post game he brags about how much he "carries" and basically uses his "damage dealt" as Justification for starving out the rest of his team.

THIS is the kind of mentality that makes me sick. These people dont care about the team, just want thier teammates to serve as witnesses for how great THEY as an individual are. Hope fizz breaks his arm patting himself on the back.

I am really getting sick and tired of this notion that in order to win the game, you have to have the most kills

He's in Bronze 5, people dont understand -anything- there. To get out you have to take command of the game yourself.

I understand kills ARE part of the game, I never said they werent. But the trend i have been seeing is people focussing PURELY on kills. Just got out of a game where mid way into the game, Bot lane's tower was untouched, everyone was just focussing on kills. Bot tower was ignored, when I tried to bring attention to it and suggested actually trying to do some damage to it, I was responded with "Laning Phase over" as if "when laning phase is over, stop trying to actually push your lane"

Thank you, I have been supporting sinse season 3 so these are merely the behavioral trends I am observing. Trends which destroy teamwork and cohesion among the team. When one player thinks themselves above everyone else and is only interested in the idea of "Most kills on the team"

It's been creeping in noticeably since season 2 when riot started getting into esports. And I agree it's incredibly disheartening that everyone plays it for themselves.

I posted it later on down in the thread but had a Fizz who was so greedy and self centered, he took all the kills while everyone else either went Neutral (6/6, 7/7, etc) Or negative. We all went like 6/6/, 2/5, 4/8...

And when we asked him to stop taking all the kills, or at least to help his TEAM get kills, he got angry/offended. "If you want kills, you get on your own" And yet he would run solo, not help his team when they needed it. And bragged about how he "Carried" while the rest of the team were forced to struggle along behind him...again most of us going negative because he was so focused on HIMSELF HAVING THE MOST KILLS. Because thats all that mattered. At the end of the match, he seemed to think just spouting "look at my damage dealt" justified him starving out the rest of his team for kills. THIS IS WHERE LEAGUE IS HEADED! Its happening MORE OFTEN.

Destroy the enemy Nexus. Destroy the inhibitor to destroy the nexus. Destroy the towers to destroy the inhibitor. Destroy enemies to create a window to destroy towers.

The only part of that statement most people seem to grasp is "Destroy enemies" (aka Get Kills)

They dont try and take down turrets. Dont even try and attack. They chase the enemy all over the map and dont realise "If you attack the turret and make yourself a threat, the enemy will COME TO YOU.

Also you can use Dragons as a form of "bait" if you want kills. Go for dragon and watch them come running to contest it. Get kills that way. But all people care about is chasing enemies all over the map to get kills, they dont try and take objectives.

Again league is like chess If all you care about is how many enemy pieces YOU capture (Kills) you can no longer see the Checkmate (Nexus destruction)

There used to be a concept of wasting the enemy's minion farm on their towers, but people never grew out of that when the game changed to favor destroying towers for map dominance.

Anyone can learn, but few know how to adapt.
