If you see your support as "expendable" because of thier champion selection...

Dont turn around and get mad at them for not wanting to support you!.

I am seeing this More and more. Players who follow the meta like its thier bible. Anyone who legitimately tries to win by playing an Off meta support. I just got out of a match where I went MF support. ADC repeatedly ignored pings for help. And I was told "you went MF 'support' " So because of my champion selection, I am instantly treated as a tumour to be removed and cut off from everyone else. I am really getting sick of this Mob mentality, Where if you are going against the meta, no matter how genuine your intention, the community goes out of thier way to create a self fulfilling prophecys. They will do everything in thier power to make you out what they label you.

Like a player who calls you a feeder. then spends the entire game ignoring you when you ping for help. When you get ambushed the player just looks the other way. Or feints going in and waits for follow up, only to back out at the last second when its too late for you. Then spends each death going "See? see? I told you this player was a feeder"

You have a player you designated as the "other" (feeder/troll/flamer/etc) and so you spend the entire game poking and prodding, Making sure that the "other" ends up exactly how you want them to. You labeled them a troll so anything they do is twisted into a form of "trolling" regardless of intent. You labeled them a feeder so you ignore when they need help and Laugh when they die because It helps validate your label on them.

Again, got hung out to dry because I went MF support. Apparently the player didnt care or know, but designated it as trolling anyways. Ignored pings for help when the enemy bot lane pounced on me (ADC had abandoned lane and ran mid for kills). ADC ignored pings for help but was happy to label me a feeder/troll because "you went MF "support" "

This falls in line with the earlier thread I made. About how Supports are treated as NOT PART OF THE TEAM. When they ping? its brushed off when they need help, it gets ignored. When the match is lost, its automatically their fault.

I have been told by adcs "ur job is to die so adc can live" and yet again these same adcs will talk about how much of a "troll feeder" support is.

So Consider this fair warning. If you want to treat me as expendable, dont get mad and throw a tantrum when I decide Not to waste my time buying sightstone, support items, or providing vision. Its a waste if all the adc is gonna do is throw support to the enemy team to save thier own skin then turn around and go "wtf support, STOP DYING! OMG Report the troll Feeding support"

I am a support I am NOT your verbal punching bag I am NOT your personal Lane slave I am NOT YOUR MEAT SHIELD and I am definately most assuredly NOT YOUR SCAPEGOAT. If you dont even see your support as part of the team, then they have no obligation to provide vision for you. So I guess the team will actually have to learn to buy more wards.

You played MF into Caitlyn+Kench and Jinx+Nunu and ultra fed both times... I wouldn't bother trying to help you either.

Stop trying to cash in on the ADC hate, you actually ARE ruining games with your trash builds and poor champion selection.

I have had ADCs that purposly let me die. Or bait me into an enguage just to turn around, run, wait fir me to die, then turn around again to secure a double.

Sure if anyone needs the kills its the ADC. But by purposly letting me die, you are allowing the enemy team access to more gold that could have been prevented from them getting.

Even worse is when that very same ADC bitches at you for feeding or for you standing back and not following them into their enguages after.

I have also had the duspleaure of having an entire team backstab each other in the same way for glory and kills.

Yeah, playing support often means you have to use all your tools in your disposal for someone else, which in turn means your deaths are often the result of shotcalls. Often supports can die for something as little as poor minion manipulation. And the role will consistently be difficult to coordinate if you don't know the person you're laning with, but there's not much you can do except be kind, helpful when possible, and report people who break the summoner's code thing. And as far as going for off meta supports, that one is a little difficult. I guess just post in champ select chat that you want to do it and ask if it's okay? You may get shot down even if it's a really good matchup but instalocking anyway makes you no better than a troll, regardless of the outcome. Unfortunately as a support the team comes first. So if you're queuing alone, it's probably better just to stick to the meta until you have someone to back you up in any oddball decisions. (even though MF sup isn't that weird, and everyone should know about that now)

Yeah, it sucks when people complain about vision and you have all your sightstone wards out and a pink/controlward. Hopefully they will add a ping option to show how many ward you have on the map (although I don't know how they'd implement that). People will consistently be jerks, but how we deal with them is what matters.

Anyway, good luck out there on the rift, and don't destroy my ctrl wards damnnit I paid good money for those!

I've had this happen to me rather often. Not often enough for it to seriously affect me, but enough to get under my skin.

I always go into the Support role with the mentality of "I will throw myself in front of my teammate if it means their survival. However, if being the scapegoat of the situation will still result in their death, I will always choose to live and simply support another teammate for the time being".

I never support just my adc. I support every ally I have when applicable. Because of this, I've had adc's crying to /all, talking about "please report this support. afk up in mid/top lane and not doing their job."

All the while, I'm just sitting there thinking "How? How am I not doing my job? The river's warded for you, there was no one around prior to my leaving the lane, and our top/mid needed some assistance. Our jungler had just backed so he couldn't get there in time. You got caught out [or just plain killed] for not keeping passive til I got back to you. Not my fault."

I also had a game, recently, where I was Taric supporting an Ezreal. There was a point where he and I were chasing down the enemy Wukong who was low on HP and Mana (killable) and the Caitlyn who was low on mana (not as killable, but killable). All was fine until I noticed that the enemy's fed Leblanc had just respawned. We were about around where the 2nd tier mid tower is. Upon noticing her respawn, I pinged 3 times for Ezreal to back off and began to turn away from him, expecting him to follow. Instead of leaving, he chose to keep chasing Wukong, leading to his death by the hands (Scepter) of Leblanc. He then went into chat with "wow, can't believe Leblanc is so fed."

Like, "wow. had you just listened to my pings and ran, you wouldn't have to worry about how fed she is." I'm seriously sick of no one listening to my pings when I play Support. I swear, 99.9% of my pings get ignored while I'm playing Support. Supporting randoms is not fun when they act like this.

If only more people knew that bot lane is almost entirely decided by they sup, maybe they would have more respect.

Best thing I can say is I hope you encounter less jerks, and you can play whatever you want if you lane with me. Because even if I don't like whatever you pick freaking Karthus sup or whatever, because role selection doesn't give anyone the right to determine someone else's champion. You pick your own champ for a reason. And if you don't troll in game, nothing else matters. You seem like a good person, so [insert reassuring hug here]

you can do the same back to the ADC sometimes.

Like knock a bruiser back into the ADC as alistar ...

Not that I recommend it. But typical ADC mains do have the biggest ego out there.

Oooof, this hits home. I LOVE getting an adc that sees me as holding them back. 'I can do better without you!' so I eventually get sick of it and roam mid/top and watch them feed in a 2v1 (or 3v1 when the jungler comes to dive) Aw, what's the matter, I thought you didn't need me.

Your best bet is to find a good ADC to duo with that is okay with off meta picks for support.

AgeOfTheMage11/18/2016, 3:00:56 PM2 votes

pretty much, I do die more than my adc, but it's to save an adc most of the time, it does feel like support pings are ignored and in the end unless you make a sick play right before it's over people will just look at how much someone else carried, I also hate when someone is like: wow, 0/12 noob when my kda is 0/12/42 or even when not supporting people ignore assists :I

Randomonium11/18/2016, 3:26:00 PM2 votes

I honestly could care less what someone supports as. What tilts me off the face of the earth is when the support basically AFKs in lane and is just an experience sink. As a support you should punishing the enemy ADC when he moves forward to CS and zoning the enemy support from trying to punish me as I CS. Multiple times in ranked games I've asked my support if he was lagging because he wasn't doing anything and his response was "sorry, I was checking facebook." Checking Facebook in a freaking ranked game.

I never understood ADCs that freak out when their support gets a kill. A kill is a kill. I'd much rather we kill them fast so I still have enough health to safely push out the lane without worrying about the jungler appearing and finishing me off.

Before you assume the support is trolling you should always check out their op.gg. I've had some people pick some weird support picks before and then I check their op.gg and find they've got a 70%+ win rate with it. Let someone's actions speak louder than their champion pick.

I've seen "feeders" make terrible calls that have next to no chance for success, went to help, realized how terrible it was, left, and afterwards never going with them on ideas they have that seem bad.

Also, in comparison to the ADC you ARE expendable. That doesn't mean they should just let you die, but it does mean that you shouldn't get pissed when they use your life to save their own. I've played with support mains that pretty much beg for me to leave them in situations we won't win saying the same thing.

Everyone in the team is important, but Braum isn't gonna clear waves faster than Tristana . And Tristana isn't going to provide as much utility as Braum .

All supports are expendable. They exist only to be carried.

Yeah I often play j4 support and every few matches those meta nazi players complain about me going with an off meta pick. Poppy support is not currently meta I think but people don't complain about that. I am pretty sure riot has a rule that says you are not allowed to shame someone for an off-meta pick.

Quick question.

Why did you play MF support?
