@Lyte, I am not going to play until you take that LeaverBuster warning out of my face.

I can't commit to that (check the attachment). I could TRY to do not leave any further games, but the way you phrased it.... I am sorry. I can't say "I agree" to that statement.

Unless you can give me 100% guarantee that my internet connection won't fail, that none of my family members will be ill and that an emergency will never occur when I play a match. Can you do that?

Also... you have said: If you afk or leave the game one time, the leaver buster won't target you. Was it a lie? IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER AFKED. For my own personal reasons. If you don't agree with it, We have the right to express different views, right?

Heimerdinger End of the story:

Whatever. I will just type "I agree" and play a few games. I hope they will get that fixed. I will also try my best to do not AFK ever again unless something beyond my control happen.Heimerdinger

Quick Update:

Riot's support replied my ticket but didn't answer my question - I wonder if he even read the discussion... I guess not.

*Hello Summoner,

Our LeaverBuster system issues suspensions based on a number of factors. The biggest factors include the number of times you’ve left a game, the amount of time between each left game, and whether you have been punished for leaving recently.

The best advice I can give you to avoid getting suspended by our LeaverBuster system is to address any issues you are having with your computer or internet connection if they are causing disconnections from the game, and only playing when you are relatively sure you can complete the match you have entered.

I'm sorry I couldn't give you a more specific answer on this. If you have any other issues, or if you would like clarification on any of the points I have brought up, please feel free to contact me again and I would be glad to help you.

Sincerely, TreeTrunk*

I am usually not siding with ppl whining about the system but this popup...LOL

"Sorry honey, i saw that smoke coming from the kitchen and i really wanted to check it out, but i had agreed not to leave any further games! I mean, you want me to be a man of my word, don't you? And whats the big deal, the house is insured..."

Aerothal12/3/2014, 8:08:35 AM21 votes

Its funny. You have to agree to something you have no control over! Do i know if there's gonna be a tornado warning, a fire, a heart attack, a burglary..... I mean, i agree to not willingly leave games (not that i do anyway) but that blanket agreement? sure i can click it, but you are making me a liar right then and there because in an emergency i will leave the game! Shoot i might even leave the game for a non emergency (PAAAAAPAAAA, i need wiping...) because Real Life > Virtual Game! for reals, RIOT, rephrase that.

BTW, i have maybe 3 or 4 afk's in my over 4000 games i played. 1 Tornado Warning, 1 Power Outage and 1 ISP Outage. Its bound to happen again sometime.

It feels like a lazy way of getting you to not be able to dispute it.

  1. You won't get a Riot Reply.
  2. You will eventually type "I Agree" into that.

It's fucking hilarious that they always imply it's the fault of the player when their own game crashes and won't let you reconnect half the time.

Just want to point out that if YOUR internet falters, it's not the games fault, so don't blame them. It's like if you dropped a candy into a sewer drain by accident and you got angry at the sewer drain because you dropped your candy.

I thought Lyte was pretty clear when he stated - a few times - that the "I agree" message is not Leaverbuster targeting you. It's part of the communication - particularly to new players or old habitual leavers - that Riot believes leaving games is not okay.

Hey it happened to me too my comp froze and i restarted and then had trouble connecting to the game and after 10 mins managed to get back in. My team was down but won once i got into the game and after the game finished i got a warning. I have only left a game one or two times prior to that and that was ages ago

DrCyanide12/3/2014, 4:31:57 PM5 votes

Yeah, this message is horrible. Bump for justice!

TheKingDodo12/4/2014, 3:14:27 AM5 votes

The warning appears the first you afk, the punishment comes the second time. Riot's definition of multiple: "2 times"

Just got hit with this because the 3 premade i was paired up with decided to 1v5 the other team over and over and over from the start of the game. 6 minutes in and they have a huge level advantage on us with no signs on my team stopping the feeding. No big deal, it happens all the time in this game so i sit and let it end. I'm hit with this at the end of the game while the feeders walk away scott free? The game is broken and the way they are trying to fix it is just making it worse.

I understand the frustration and abrasiveness of the statement (the wording of it could definitely use some work), but part of this is simply due to the implementation of the new system.

The message is intended for brand new players, and it only pops up during your first leave ever. It's not really intended for higher level players because... well.. sometimes we have no choice but to leave games due to circumstances out of our control (hence, poor wording). It shouldn't pop up again, and it's not really anything to worry about long term.

Yes, the wording makes it annoying. But don't take it to heart. It's supposed to just be a friendly warning to new players; it doesn't meet this goal, but because the system is brand new and implemented across the entirety of the userbase, it is happening to catch everybody.

Yep!

You know, I can understand Riot wanting to stop the rage quitters, but this Leave Buster system is basically cast a wide net and catch whatever you can, and that is not a very efficient way to do things. Riot says it takes various things into consideration, but are you taking in the state of your servers for the past two days? One game, I was lagging so badly I couldn't do anything. So, I apologized to teammates and after we lost, quit the game for a few hours. Checked server status, saw no notification, assumed it was fixed, logged back in and played a game. Everyone got disconnected from the game at one point, and I was the last one to join. Got back, won game, client crashed. Said F this, went to bed, woke up and BAM, leavebuster message.

Excuse me...What? I've began to recently play this game more frequently as of late, and all of my "connection" issues always seem to occur on patch days, and sometimes extend over a period of a few days. So, Riot, may I ask how it is fair for me to receive a punishment when it is your servers that are causing the instability to begin with? THIS is why your system of casting a wide net is horrendous and is not, in anyway, addressing the underlying problem. In your attempt to deal with the true baddies, you are also hurting people that are actually choosing to support you in playing your game, but because server issues happen (Something that even YOU yourself Riot have no absolute 100% control over), they are getting this message. I really REALLY want to hear a red argue how that is fair, in any way.

I find it hilarious that some think people magically know when their internet is going to have issues/is having issues before they queue. Usually, my internet starts acting up RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME. It doesn't matter if it's ARAM, Normals, or what - it still happens and there's no way to control it, or not in a way that doesn't take a few minutes of trying to fix it after the problem already started. That's why this bugs me, because it even happened to me earlier this morning and I had to type that I agreed not to leave any further games. Well, sorry to break it to you, but I didn't want to leave the game in the first place. But there's not much of a choice when a) my internet needs to be reset to work again or b) the game freezes entirely and I need to reconnect.

Also, this whole 'ruining 4 or 9 other people's games'... seriously, if someone left for a while or entirely because of connection issues in a game of mine, I would get it. I wouldn't care, whether we win or lose. If they're not purposefully leaving a game, what does it matter? People get way too crazy and angry when others leave and I feel like most the time, it's a connection issue unless the player is someone that rage quits due to every little thing going wrong. Those deserved to be punished, and are the ones that are ruining the game for others, not people with connection problems that pop up without them knowing it would happen. And I know there's not always a way to tell but this is just... I dunno. Unfair.

PS - Heart eyes at you lucky people without internet problems. :P

If your excuse is that your internet is unstable, well then fix your internet before typing "I agree". If not quit whinning on the forums, cause when you AFK or DC the other 4 members on your team wont give a shit about your actual reasons, be it your internet sucks or if your house just got hit by a meteor, no one fucking cares. Either you are playing or not. If you arent playing? Get reported and get banned.
