Keep having to change wifi channels?

So I have been fighting lag alot lately after some experimenting I kinda found a fix, but its pretty annoying. So when I start lagging i simply change wifi channels under my routers webpage. If i leave it on auto it doesn't help lag, but changing them manually when i lag will almost instantly make my ping go from 2000 to 60-70. the only problem is its temporary. the good ping will last anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours then i have to change channels again. Anyone know the cause for this? maybe how i can keep from having to constantly change wifi channels?
