I think toxic gameplay should be handled more strictly.

If you are going to give out restrictions for toxic chat in a game that has a mute button, then the people causing the toxic language should also be able to be punished. And no, not talking about players that have a bad game (because it is pretty obvious when someone 'has a bad game' compared to trolling). I just think that the players causing the toxic language should be punished, instead of just punishing the toxic language player, especially when there is a mute button lol.

Do you have any idea how many times I've heard the phrase, "well, I've had a bad game this time, but my teammates are just trolls"?

I assume you just got your first chat restriction. Welcome to the club. Unfortunately, negative behavior isn't acceptable in any situation. If the person needs to mute you, you already harassed them.

No lol, not first chat restriction xD. This post was more so about a trolling enemy support that will get no punishment because Riot would rather chat restrict 100 players that all got punished from bitching at 1 player that caused them to rage. You can't solve the problem by throwing the reaction under the rug.

It seems like you're saying, "If you play badly then it's your fault that I behave in a toxic manner."

Being toxic and escalating the situation to toxic players doesn't achieve anything, nor is it the correct solution. Your poll question is loaded too, because of course you should punish toxic gameplay, such as intentional feeders, AFKs, and trolls. But there is a reporting system for that in place already.

The only people who "cause" toxic language is you. You control the keyboard, nobody else.

Not what I'm saying at all. If you read, you would understand that. My enemy team just had a "support" mumu. He tried to take all the cs, didn't buy a single ward, and built 100% AP. He then fed, obviously. Then, "NEVER SURRENDER THATS MY MOTTO" in all caps all chat. Clearly this man is trolling the game. This is clearly toxic gameplay, but will not get any punishment. So, obviously there is no system in place for it. This one player will probably cause many people to get chat restricted because of his toxic gameplay. Like I said, this player is clearly trolling and not "having a bad game", so your quote holds no weight. I am talking about toxic gameplay, not losing a lane.

If he is doing something wrong you report him afterwards. How do you know he will not get any punishment? If he's breaking the Summoner's Code and behaving badly and makes a trend out of it, he will get punished eventually. HE isn't causing anyone to get a chat ban. YOU control what you type and how you react. So, unless he drives to your house and starts typing away profanities on your computer, the only person who causes themselves to get a chat restriction is you.

You seem to be convinced he won't get any punishment but everyone else will and it's completely unfounded. Do you think by being toxic to him in response, he'll be like, "Oh, you make a valid argument sir. I'll stop acting this way." You just mute him, ignore him, report him and move on. You can't control him, only yourself.

Some of the most toxic people I've come across didn't talk a single word all game. I had an anivia support once that maxed her wall, and every single time we would start fighting in bot lane she would wall behind me so I couldn't get away from my enemies.

This was quite a long time ago, but as far as I remember we had a jax, some strong AP snowbally mid, me(vayne) and some other guy. The other guy went afk out of rage when anivia continued walling us when the teamfights started. She would just drop the wall and seperate one person causing him to get collapsed on, that's when they started believing me that I was telling the truth about anivia trolling. =D

We actually went on to win that game, me, Jax and the snowbally mid. Anivia got bored of trolling us, called the enemy noobs for not being able to finish 3v5 and went afk as well. I think it was a Katarina. Not sure though. The first and only time I won a 3v5. The memories the trolls imprint on us...

I saw a case like this in the Tribunal once upon a time. Guy played Trundle "support" maxing CDR and used his pillar to get teammates killed repeatedly.

The case was Punished, by an Overwhelming Majority of voters. I haven't seen any cases similar since the Tribunal was taken down, but as a general rule it's safe to say that if the Tribunal would punish a particular behavior, Riot would as well - they've often stated, and since shown, that they're less lenient than the Tribunal was.
