I think toxic gameplay should be handled more strictly.

If you are going to give out restrictions for toxic chat in a game that has a mute button, then the people causing the toxic language should also be able to be punished. And no, not talking about players that have a bad game (because it is pretty obvious when someone 'has a bad game' compared to trolling). I just think that the players causing the toxic language should be punished, instead of just punishing the toxic language player, especially when there is a mute button lol.

Do you have any idea how many times I've heard the phrase, "well, I've had a bad game this time, but my teammates are just trolls"?

I assume you just got your first chat restriction. Welcome to the club. Unfortunately, negative behavior isn't acceptable in any situation. If the person needs to mute you, you already harassed them.

It seems like you're saying, "If you play badly then it's your fault that I behave in a toxic manner."

Being toxic and escalating the situation to toxic players doesn't achieve anything, nor is it the correct solution. Your poll question is loaded too, because of course you should punish toxic gameplay, such as intentional feeders, AFKs, and trolls. But there is a reporting system for that in place already.

The only people who "cause" toxic language is you. You control the keyboard, nobody else.

Some of the most toxic people I've come across didn't talk a single word all game. I had an anivia support once that maxed her wall, and every single time we would start fighting in bot lane she would wall behind me so I couldn't get away from my enemies.

This was quite a long time ago, but as far as I remember we had a jax, some strong AP snowbally mid, me(vayne) and some other guy. The other guy went afk out of rage when anivia continued walling us when the teamfights started. She would just drop the wall and seperate one person causing him to get collapsed on, that's when they started believing me that I was telling the truth about anivia trolling. =D

We actually went on to win that game, me, Jax and the snowbally mid. Anivia got bored of trolling us, called the enemy noobs for not being able to finish 3v5 and went afk as well. I think it was a Katarina. Not sure though. The first and only time I won a 3v5. The memories the trolls imprint on us...
