Giant Ideas for Improving League Discussion

Hi there League Community!

I started this discussion to build up a giant collection of ideas eveyone might have to improve the general experience of League of Legends. And if Riot approves of one or another we might have ourselves some neat new functions in Season 5. :)

So I'm gonna start off with the thouhgts and ideas I've had so far.

  • Client Ideas:

    • The ability to rearrange Rune- and Mastery Pages (Would make it easier to keep Pages for Similar Roles together.)
    • The ability to save several keybindings (similar to Item Sets) for diffent champions
    • I would love to see Replays hitting the official client next season. (The alternatives cause disconnects and several other bugs far too oftan.)
  • Ingame Ideas:

    • The ability to rearrange the items of your inventory via the shop. (I've read there seem to be technical problems doing this, but maybe for season 5? :P )
    • If technically possible maybe add a chat you can use to chat with your teammates during the loading screen.
    • The ability to exchange Trinkets with just one click. (instead of having to sell the old- and buy the new one)
    • Make the Blue Trinket standard and exchangeble (and/or upgradable) from lvl 6 or 9. (IMHO there are just too many free wards with everyone starting off with the Yellow Trinket. But maybe thats just my impression.)
    • Please make the Mute Button actually completely mute a Player. Or alternatively leave that the way it is and add another button for muting all the sounds from that player. (This way one could easily avoid people ruining the League experience by constantly spampinging or spamming emotes with sound effects instead of voices that cannot be muted right now.)
    • Stop the chat from closing as soon as the Nexus starts exploding. I usually at least write gg at the end of the game and the fact that the chat closes while typing is just annoying and discouraging to do so.
    • Remove summoner 4 from the list of Summoner Spells. Instead either add it as a standard spell, everyone can use (similar to recall) or make it available to buy via the shop (Maybe as an enchantmet for your Trinket or alike). It feels like 90% of any guide you ever read anywhere, advises you to take Flash. And it's very well understandable. It's very vertisle and just saves lives. But in my eyes it's not a Summoner Spell that can be balanced fairly with the others. So making it available to everyone, would also make it much easier to balance the rest of the Summoner Spells. And in the case of making it purchasable enchantment in the shop would make it an interesting choice between buying flash for better engage/escape or buying more raw power or alike.
  • Ranked Queue Idea: I think It would be possible to make an additional Ranked Queue with the Teambuilder. But to keep it fair (especially compared to the current Ranked Queue) it would have to follow certain rules or course. My ideas on these rules would be as followes:

    • You would have a seperate MMR and open ranking for each role.
    • Your rank for this queue would be the average ranking of all roles.
    • And you would have to do placement games for each role, as each could have a far different MMR from the rest.

The last two points are important, so nobody can get to a high rank with just playing one role while not playing any other. I believe that one should only be eligible to season rewards if you perform well enough in each role. So just as an extreme example: Let's say we give the tiers points, ranging from 1 for Bronze to 7 for Challenger. Now someone who playes a godlike challenger botlane (Marksman & Support) but can't get out of bronze while playing any other role, would earn 7 points each for these two roles and 1 point each for the remaining ones. This would sum up to 18 points. Divide this by the number of tiers and our player would have a solid Silver ranking (2,57...). BUT one could make special ranked icons for this que, similar to the ones you can unlock in the current normal Teambuilder, which would represent the best ranking one achieved playing each role. (Or maybe something similar to that.) And of course, if your average ranking exeeds Gold you can achieve the End of Season rewards.

  • Ideas for Champion Select:

    • Add some tabs you can prepare for Champion Select. (Again, similar to Item Sets) these could be used to list highlight your prefered bans or picks or maybe just champions you wanna try out anytime soon.
    • Add an option to choose your prefered role before the game starts and have it displayed as soon as you join championselect. (This should NOT interfere with the normal matchmaking thow.) My main thought behind this is that people belive to be "allowed" to play a role more than someone else simply because they called it faster. This way you don't need to call it. It's written there right away, viewable for all teammates, and one can start talking about the actual distribution of the roles. Also this enforces the understanding of it being a preference and not a demand, especially in Blind Pick.
    • I've read about this before once. Make an option to choose your ward skin. And if you have several, maybe even the option to choose different skins for different ward types? For example Fist Bump ward for Vision Wards and maybe the Victorious ward for Stealth Wards.
  • Rune Ideas:

    • I would like to see more clarity on how good or bad runes are. I've done some mathe on them some time ago and back then a full set of marks ranged from being worth 58 Gold (Flat CDR) to 500 Gold (Flat AS) to 792 Gold (AD @ lvl 18).
    • Personally I would like more meaningfull choices in the runes too. It's easy to do the maths and find out what's most likely best for a Fighter or a Mage. But it doesn't really feel like it makes too much of a difference as long as you don't go too far and fall over board (like taking mana runes on riven or going for those CDR Marks). I honestly don't have a good idea how to achive this (yet), but it would be cool if runes felt like they actually really made a difference again. (Like in Season 1 and you wanted to Jungle. :D )
  • Shop Ideas:

    • Add 1 refund each year. This way everyone is allowed to make one mistake a year. :P
  • Long Term Rewarding: So, I've read about this topic several times. If I understand it correctly so far, Riot wanted to reward players who are part of the League for a really long time. At first it was supposed to be some kind of reward for the lifetime purchased RP. But it seems that players who dont invest any money into League would feel left out. And now where I heared how the RAF is going to be changed I was thinking, that one could use a similar system to hand out rewards to active players who have been part of the community for so long. So my idea is as follows:

    • You define a new Value, let's call it GamePoints.
    • GamePoints is defined by: (lifetime earned IP) + 5x(lifetime spent RP) [+ 500x Days the Account Exists]
    • For each 300k GamePoint you collect, you can choose to unlock one Limited Skin (of your choice?)

This way limited skins are made available to people who are really dedicated to the game but can actually stay limited, as you cant simply purchase them. Also everyone still has the ability to achieve them, if they dedicate enough time into playing the game. I belive this system or a system built like this would be rewarding for every leage player and nobody would feel treated unfairly. Also one could additionlly implement the evolving Summoner Icon too. ;)

TL;DR? I don't mind. Just add your own Ideas then. :)

In any case I'm looking forward to hearing more great ideas. These were all I could come up with so far. :)

In my opinion, there are some good ideas to make league a better place. I would like to emphasize the following:

  • Champion Select: I really like the idea of picking your favorite role BEFORE the game starts. This seems also fair for all the people who love to play league but can't afford a super high speed computer. League is free to play and I always horored it for being fair for all players. The champion select is one of the biggest issues of league (right behind the flaming toxic first blood and afk teammate that shows up in every 7th of your games...). There are countless videos on youtube about people complaining about the lack of fairness. So I guess this new system would make it better for everyone and to be honest: it's already overdue. So I guess, Riot should really work on this or sthg similiar to make the champion select better for everyone.

  • Long time rewarding: item 3157 Again, this idea would make it fair for everyone who loves league. Especially for the people who don't have the money to spent it on skins.

  • Ingame idea : summoner 4 The only Champion I've seen without flash recently are DrMundo and Singed. Their ultimate already have a huge movement buff and normally they have tons of HP and resistances, so I guess thats why they are able to back out before being smashed in 0.25 seconds. But literally every other champ uses flash. And the anxious feeling you get by wandering around with your flash on CD, I guess everyone knows this. So I support the idea of flash being a standart spell. As you said, this would make it easier to balance the other summoner spells.

Not to be that stickler, but are these all your own ideas? Because I've been seeing a lot of these in Boards lately, almost certain they've had different authors. If these are all ideas you came up with on your own, that's fine, but if you got them from someone else's thread, you should mention that they aren't all yours. Just a reminder not to cite other's ideas as your own :)
