Looks like it's finally time for me to try ranked. The realization just hit me that I've played this game since 2012, 4 damn years, gone through 8 teams whom I've never played with, and it's time for me to start.

Just remember, don't get tilted. Someone feeding? Tell them it's ok and then mute them. Honestly you can mute the entire enemy team. But yeah just be chill and don't respond to toxicity with toxicity.

You are so right on that! I think I've only genuinely raged at someone like 3 times...

To be fair, one of them was some guy telling my friend to drink bleach :/

Finding my ranked team last season was the single most influential thing that happened to me last season that really impacted the way that I saw the game, played the game, and played with other people. I picked up efficiently teleporting from mid to bot for cheese ganks, becoming a more positive player, and working with other players.

A smart player knows when to take a break before tilt kicks in too hard. I'm not saying I'm a smart player or anything ;), but what I do is I climb as fast and as high as I can before I inevitably plateau. Then, rather than wonder if I have the mechanics and ability to climb higher (which leads to self-doubt), I practice the same champion on one of my alternate accounts. This allows me to continue practicing my champions without worrying about tilting and demoting my main account and hopefully gives me some self-confidence that brings me off tilt and ready to climb higher.

so what is your rank if you go 4-6 in the placements?

idk much about ranked, i played 28 ranked games last season and only ~10 were good games, hoping this new system stops people from raging before i try playing ranked again

Your rank after placements is highly dependent on where your MMR was last season. On average, I'd guess it's about two tiers under where you were last season.

I ended season 4 with silver 5, tried provisional on season 5 and got silver 4.

Does ranked always put you one or two tiers bellow every beginning of the season? I think I heard about this somewhere too....

On average, yeah. However, a lot of people are seeing a lot lower placement ranks early on in the season, as the early season curve is from Plat 1 to Bronze 5, rather than the equilibrium of Challenger to Bronze 5. I'm guessing that if you hold off on ranked for a while, you might place higher (just a hypothesis).
