Remove Champ Select's "Lock in" button

Champ Select's lock in button should be removed from blind pick. This would help dealing with instalockers(still being to change champions after locking) and prevent accidents where you accidentally lock in. Instead, there should be a Ready/Not Ready system like team builder, where it starts when everyone is ready or after the time.

If in-champ select reporting was also added, it would be great addition to a Ready/Not Ready button

EDIT: Related thread> http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/iKFReuiX-riot-in-blind-pick-change-lock-in-button-with-ready-button-like-team-builder-does (better explanation :P) Whaddya guys think?

i'm not sure how this would solve instalockers. if you select a champ first then it's not like someone else can select it.

Thanks for the feedback! wasn't thinking clearly when I wrote the OP xD To affect insta locking, it probably would just be the teamates could switch their champions instead of a scenario where everything seemed all right and they locked, but then a player instantly locked a role that was called

I've been playing evolve here and there and they have under your name what you prefer to play as, if we could implement that in some other way maybe it could help from people instalocking or racing to call their roles in blind pick. Otherwise, fuck that shit and just play draft or teambuilder.

I think that would be a really good idea, although they would still instantly "ready" their Champion. but it is still a very good idea

So many mid lane insta-lockers I can't get any real games with Ahri in for practice.

I think it's a poor way to prevent instalocking, as instalockers are still in the group and they dont seem to be the kind of people who will have a realistic talk about preferred roles/changing roles. Perhaps they will choose a champ immediately and pretend afk.. pretty much accomplishes the same thing that instalocking did for them in the first place no?

That said, I think it's better than lock-in. So upvote!

Edit: I read something recently that mentioned Riot adding a Team-builder "Choose your role" function. Does anyone have a confirmation on this? What modes would it be added to?

up!

I kinda agree as well. Would save a lot of drama and toxicity in one way until they found a new way to abuse it.

I don't know how many times I have complained about this. What is the point of locking in??

Samus Frost6/6/2015, 2:59:16 AM1 votes

It would be a pretty smart idea seeing that if it was going off of a vote system it would be hard to let troll picks/accidental locks/insta-locks slip by. People wouldn't worry about some kid not wanting to support and trying to punish their team by picking a 2nd mid or jungler.

Riot will only take note of your absence. If you can not leave, your compliance of this system is your acceptance.

Kaipop6/6/2015, 6:25:19 PM1 votes

I agree. In blind pick anyway, there's always someone who doesnt lock in so you have to wait the full timer anyway

SoMNia6/6/2015, 6:54:25 PM1 votes

How would that deal with instalockers? There would still be people who immediately pick whatever champ they want and ignore what the rest of the team does. Even if they CAN change their champ after choosing, they're not going to do it. And you can change your champ in response to whatever they do, because you DIDN'T instalock...right?

That said, I agree that a ready system would be better in blind pick.

I do think in Blind pick this would be helpful,

Silents4296/6/2015, 9:36:09 PM1 votes

I don't really, see this being useful or changing anything honestly.

The only REAL people to make use of it wouldn't need it, and it isn't like someone that instalocks is going to change his champion anyways.

Or dump blind pick in general and just replace it with team builder. Same concept and team builder will go faster being the primary q for people not wanting to go with draft.

This is very unlikely to help the general populace of League of Legends. After thinking it through, i came up with a possibility, but it seems unlikely due to the bigoted nature of our community.

Trolls are gonna troll.

Without lock in button they will instant pick them afk still game starts.

Matter of facts, the button HELP fight slow loading trolls who cannot troll if you already call-pick-lock a lane.

If you want this to have an option for people who accidentally lock in or change their minds then fine, I guess it would be ok for that. But I don't see this doing anything about insta lockers. If they cared what you want them to play they wouldn't be insta locking to begin with.
