Looking for FEK Event Staff

Note: FEK (Forum Enhancement Kit) is more popular in General Discussion, yet I'm putting it here in Miscellaneous because that's where the main thread is located.

EDIT: This has ended and the members have been chosen.

So a long time ago, FEK had an event staff. Back then things were extremely unorganized so nothing really came out of it, and there were three event staff members who did literally nothing except for a couple of games.

If events/games/tournaments can be organized, then I can finally put FEK titles to a use so that somebody other than just the staff can have them. In addition to this, it's certainly possible for RP prizes to be given to the winners.

  • Currently I plan on having only two people to be on the event staff.

  • Yes, you will have a FEK Staff badge and title.

  • While I will try my hardest to make this work, it may not end up actually working out. If this happens to be the unfortunate result, the staff members will be removed. Take this as an advance warning.

If you would like to apply to be on the FEK Event Staff team, make a post below with any and all information that you think is relevant about yourself.

  • While you can be from any region (NA/OCE/EUW/EUNE), keep in mind that these events are going to be in NA. In the future, I plan on expanding to include other servers as well.

  • Responsibilities will be to organize, coordinate, and manage all events. As of right now the only thing I have in mind is League tournaments, but it could be possible to extend this outside of just League and/or simple tournaments.

  • There is no date set in stone when we will choose the two people who apply in this thread.

I would love to fizz. This would be a great learning experience for me and i know i can offer art as a prize.

I wanted to suggest an idea for FEK, having a roll the die and random number generator. These could be used in events (like if you roll these numbers you get a prize)

Have you seen GaiaOnline event posts?

About me: So far my work schedule is morning shifts with every other weekend off, with a random day off during the week as well. For example: I have OCT (Thursday) 1st off, OCT (Monday) 5th off, OCT (Saturday&Sunday) 10th and 11th off. Repeat the day off pattern and you know my schedule. These are times where I can focus on events. Though Thursdays I spend time with my wonderful boyfriend Knatt. (I'm sure he would help me assist with these events since he works part-time)

-I'm very friendly and well known, not much gets to me.

-If I can get my boyfriend to apply to host these events then him and I can definitely coordinate stuff since we see/text each other all the time.

-GD Essentially gets free art.

-I can post from my phone from anywhere. Be it 15 min break at work to hiking a trail up in the woods. (No fek on the phone tho :<)

The reasons that the two above me stated are why I cannot do this. However, I will mention that bias is not always a bad thing. The FEK staff is obviously biased against those who have caused turmoil in the past, and those candidates would be a very long shot if they tried to apply for the position. Basically, it's a matter of kindness, professionalism, and being able to get the job done. Being well known is second hand and is not required for the position, but if a certain candidate is well known for their kindness and professionalism, it certainly could help in the long run.

But in answer to your question I suppose, Frosthaven avoided Bias, has all the talents you mentioned above, and is currently not on the FEK staff. Nor will he very likely be applying for this position :3

I don't know what you are looking for in qualifications :/

I worked with some databases in a hospital, python, java, javascript, html, and I know how to organize a bunch of data on excel, I used to run events on neopets (nerd alert), and I am a fast learner, this is one shitty resume.

I'm not here to apply, I don't have the time right now to manage things, I just want to say that I think this is a great idea and hopefully, it brings the community together.

I've organized some massive events such as a charity(a friend of mine that usta work for the national parks got cancer, over 30 thousand people attended), camp-outs(for boy scouts, smaller events for groups of 5-10 people), and I'm currently the adult leader for a boy scout troop. Id gladly assist if you'd have me.

is it like the events we used to host like the tournaments with the Ryze Skin? Cause I ran a few of those but they were crap xD challengers and Diamonds always won :( ....tryhards

How much time would this take out of one's day? For example, say your life looks something like: -College Apps -Psychopath Mom -Tons of homework -etc.

If it doesn't take up too much time I might apply but if it takes up too much I would be pretty useless due to school.

In all seriousness, I would love to be able to organize these events for you. I'll even put off my attitude if I miraculously get accepted.

I'm on the West Coast, I have a ton of time to put into this, and while I don't know what exactly you're looking for just yet, I'm sure I can organize something incredibly wonderful for everyone.

It's tempting, but I'm not sure how many people would want to do an event with a Wood V/Silver IV scrub. I did enjoy organizing 5-mans for the Pool Party event and getting groups together with URF.

I'm EC time zone and really only available on weekends so I'll leave it to your discretion. Probably better choices out there, but regardless I look forward to some fun events =)

Without asking for actual qualifications, past experience, or skills in the field that is required, this whole thing just feels like a popularity contest.

My point... If such a trait is valuable enough to post in the first bullet of qualifying traits, then there's a real problem.

With the prize being an "exclusive" title, that's just going to be one more thing that boosts the ego of the winners, something that GD/FEK users do NOT need.

If this keeps going in the direction it's heading, I can already tell that the only thing this is going to do is create an even stronger circle-jerk ... which, honestly, isn't appealing what-so-ever.

I think it would be best to look for more than just FEK users, and prioritize people who aren't well known. Look for those who are responsible and show a history of level-headed posts. That'll broaden the pool of interested people and make the inevitable drama be lowered immensely.

If you don't want to repeat that, then you'll have to look for people who won't do it solely for the title (of which will be the main motivator for most, I assure you.) Actually interview them, and make sure they fit what you are looking for. Make sure that the people you recruit as staff would actually be good and responsible in the role.

Also, I should mention that I do have a number of people in mind that would have been highly capable for this position, but most of them do not use the boards any longer. As an example, I had a very nice experience with Lvl5Syndrome when he set up an initial FEK tournament before I even joined the FEK staff.

Which reminds me... I miss my Sunbros title... The passion for the son - er, sun was re-ignited on September 10th, thanks to someone gifting Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin to me.
