Who the fuckkkkk cares if people are harassing you? Riot, you're not our god damned parents, this isn't a kid's daycare, why can't you just leave us alone? PLEASE TELL ME what could POSSIBLY go wrong from someone saying "lol you're r%%%%%ed"? THE ONLY THING PEOPLE SHOULD GET BANNED FOR SAYING, is telling someone to kill themselves. and even then, not a ban, just chat restrictions. If you fucking care about the people who play this game SOOOO MUCH, force them to link their fucking facebook profiles and manually inspect them to see if they're good enough for your perfect imaginary society. Riot, you're living in a fucking dream world, there's evil in every person on the planet, the difference is that some people control it more than others.

They are running their game like a product, and listening to their customers in regards to what people feel makes their experience with that product worse. It's in Riot's best interests, both from a business perspective and a sanity one, to enforce the kind of atmosphere the vast majority of the community wants.

Out of curiosity, if you are in good standing what's the reasoning for making this thread?

because, there's a thread on the front page about how even the people to talk back to trolls get banned, and i'm sick of associating the name "League of Legends" with the thought of hundreds of thousands of people being banned, and it being "that game" where 90% of the playerbase is too afraid to say anything, I play Diablo 3, ESO, and StarCraft, (and console games of course,) and i've met the friendliest people ever on those games, there aren't even very many trolls unless you go to the starter areas in ESO, and console games, where voice chat is the only way to communicate, i literally haven't heard a single douchebag in years, and i play COD often. and GTA pretty often too. (maybe more douchebags in GTA than COD)

Riot is making the game so fucking tense for so many people that it doesn't even feel like a game should

PS: the only reason i'm not chat restricted is because i don't say anyyyything anymore. telling someone they're an idiot because they decided to give up in the game and start feeding is just a wonderful way to get 200 chat restrictions

I presume you're referring to this thread? I definitely get where people are coming from on this, and it's tough for me to get into since I don't really have any insight into the systems being used.

All I know is that the feeder detection systems just came out with 5.18, whereas verbal abuse is much easier to detect and the systems have been around for a lot longer. I'm guessing there's going to be a bit of a calibration period for the new feeder detection system, and I expect things to get better over time.

Do you feel this many people are indeed scared of being punished by the systems in place? I can't speak for the greater community, but I'm certainly not a care bear in-game and am very willing to speak my mind if I feel it's necessary. As far as I know I've never been reported or warned, and I routinely have great experiences with complete strangers.

How old you are in days on earth is irrelevant, you are acting like a adolescent hormone driven teenager that thinks in terms of "fair" and "me" there is nothing about riots business practices that suggest a religious platform, if you have elevated them to that status and have been worshiping them, Riot can not be held accountable for that which i am sure...once again...is covered in the EULA

You're right, this is a game. By playing this game you've agreed to follow Riot's rules, no matter how lame, unfair, or idiotic they are. If you don't like it don't agree to it.

You're an adult after all, you should understand how agreements work.

Not even a remotely applicable analogy. Your complaint is a lot more like you walking into someone's house and breaking everything, complaining that they won't let you keep doing it.

Riot's house, Riot's rules. If a player isn't capable of following those rules, Riot reserves the right to kick that player out of their house.

As a perfectly happy and mature adult, I'm very glad Riot is not OK with this sort of communication. When I get into a game of League of Legends I do so to have fun, and people berating and/or insulting each other isn't particularly fun for me.

The systems and restrictions Riot has in place are based in large part on the perceptions of the community, and it seems that for the most part they are working out really well.

As far as I'm aware, the vast majority of players have never received a punishment (or even a warning) for their behavior. It would seem that most of the playerbase is able to control their evil, and it's the basis around which Riot develops their policies.

Alrighty, let's expand the analogy.

You walk into Riot Games' house, where they happen to be charging guests to look at an art display (optional). There is a notice at the front door specifically saying that Riot Games owns everything in their house and they can remove you from the premises at any time, with their rules immediately below that. You buy $1,015 of art viewing, then proceed to start running around cursing and yelling at other guests.

Riot throws you out, as per the rules on the front door, and keeps the digital art since it was theirs to begin with.

Analogy aside, the money you spend on skins and other things in League of Legends has no bearing on behavioral policy. As per the ToS/EULA, everything associated with your account can be terminated at any time for any reason or no reason at all. Riot cares about ensuring people are happy with the community, so particularly bad behavior is grounds for termination of that account.

Don't give me "it's the internet". Judging from your attitude I've been on the internet longer than you've been alive. Yes it will always have it's negative sides and people. But honestly for the longest time it was far more friendly than any of the above I listed.

If you went to a friends house. Would you go around calling their other guests retards? If you said yes, they'll probably ask you to leave just like Riot is doing.

Chat bans are them telling you to shut up and stop being rude. Temp bans are them saying you're too drunk and need to go. Perma bans are them saying nobody wants you over anymore.

Just because it is a game doesn't mean people should be allowed to do as they please. If you play a game that involves other players, you will be forced to adhere to a certain code to obey. And even then its just common sense, why be an asshole to people for no reason?

If you don't like it, get out of online games and play single player games.
