Can we have a punishment for reporting players who have done nothing wrong?

It's so obnoxious when I see someone say "Report Fiora for feeding Teemo." or "Report Wukong for feeding Lee Sin." You can't expect players to win every single match up.

Or, my favorite

"Report Tryndamere for building AP." You shouldn't be able to report players based on their builds. Someone should be able to play their champion however they want to play them, as long as they're not trying to lose.

Basically, don't be a dick because someone wants to play AP Poppy mid, or if someone looses their lane due to a counterpick, or the other laner was just better.

I had two games in a row where the enemy said 'report my team, I can't carry hard enough'.

These people don't understand that someone has to lose.

People who abuse the report function (by repeatedly using it against players who don't normally get reports) have their reports nullified. If you get a notification for being reported, it doesn't simply mean one person just reported you; it means you just got reported and have been getting reported in a high percentage of your games. It's extremely rare for a troll report to do anything at all.

I also remember awhile back there was a ban wave that hit the worst of the false reporters.

Riot's done several ban waves for both toxicity and false reporting and threatening reports. They did a study and found the most commonly used toxic phrase in game was reported/threating reports. By Riot and the community when Tribunal was up voted to punish report begging/threatening harshly with Riot even more so. The last major ban wave when it went out for false reporting handed out not only chat restrictions but also a lot of 2 week and perma bans to the worst offenders.

Riot has continually stated that false reports don't matter and that those that spam false reports not only have their report weight lowerd to the point the system throws out their reports. But that those that false report too often get account reviews and bans since usually toxicity and report abuse go hand in hand.

Riot wont ban you for building non meta, no matter how many reports you get, so why are you afraid?

Basically every person has a 'report weight' that determines how the system treats your reports. The more false reports you have, the less your reports are worth. If you do it often enough, your reports become completely worthless.(the system still TRACKS them so that it can determine if you change your report pattern to start taking your reports seriously but it doesn't act on them).

Well, they put in the report feature people, so they can't punish someone for using it. It bugs me as much as it bugs you when someone reports for feeding or building non-meta, but that just seems wrong to me.

The funny thing about riot is; they are Way more likely to ban you for saying "report this troll" than they are to ever ban you for anything else.

The guy who spammed "ni gger" all game has never been punished,

The feeder who called everyone "fa ggots" all game never got punished

The one who said "I will track you down and murder you and your entire family" was never punished

Even the 2 (in different games) that spent 30 minutes in game trying to convince a teammate they were worthless and should kill themselves in RL were never punished.

BUT I say "report this troll" to many times in 8 games and I get a temp ban and my rewards for an entire year taken away.

Did you ever think the reason people say report so fast is riot has let the troll population grow so big that people are just used to seeing trolls every time they play.
