@Riot Fraud, Account Recovery department etc; What is your position on account Authenticators?

While players need to practice reasonable account security, they often don't. Whether it be as innocent as playing League in a PC cafe with a keylogger, as dumb as checking out 'Free RP' websites or using the same login combination everywhere, or as intentional as sharing their account, lots of people simply don't keep their own information as safe as they should and they end up getting 'hacked' and banned. Certainly this isn't Riot's fault, but could Riot do more?

I would like to know what kind of discussions have gone on about including login Authenticators or 2-step verification.

If you don't know what an Authenticator is, it's an app (you'll have on your phone typically) that provides a random generated key which you must provide upon logging into your account. Without that app on your phone with that key, nobody can log into your account unless it is removed. For example, Blizzard offers it free for Android and iOS or as a purchasable physical item for your keychain. 2-step verification is when you're sent an email with the code each time you attempt to log in. Some games even just send you an email when you log in from a different computer than usual; you don't have to verify it, but if you don't recognize it you will at least be alerted to an account compromise early.

For those not within my target audience (Riot), you can check out this article for information on keeping your account secure; https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201751664-Protecting-Your-Account
