Maybe I'm to old... But how is that a "Thumbs UP?!?"

I'm sorry but could someone explain to me how (y) is supposed to mean "Thumbs Up"?

There is this trend in EUNE with this sign and I'm starting to see this every game - and that does not look like a thumbs up!

I got used to it in several messenger services where (Y) meant the thumbs up emoticon.

Maybe that was the text string to call some icon, but when i started using chats (way back om mirc) that was a code for.... lets say thong. And its kinda disturbing when i see 10y old using it in chat, I mean the same kid wrote ** .I..** and he clearly new what that meant :D

Well I guess Im to old, i suppose it is time to QQ :D .
