Questions About Janna as a Champion

I have a few questions for curiosity's sake about the player base's perspective on Janna, as she's my main. Hypothetically if you were creating a Janna update, I would love to know the answer to the following questions:

What purpose do you want her to serve in this game?

What about Janna's gameplay makes her her?

What mechanics would you want to keep?

What would you want to add to make her unique?

  • Janna's purpose has always been a protector excelling at peeling.

  • Janna's kit has never been meant to do damage. She is a support that is made to help protect her team, but even more her ADC. All of her abilities offer utility to assist her team. Move speed, Knock up, Shielding, and a peel + Heal.

  • Q I think that this should remain nearly untouched. It is a very good defensive spell that rewards you for patience.

  • W, I think that this should be completely changed and re-integrated back into her passive. Maybe it could create a current that would speed up her teammates who took it. Probably a very long CD to it though. Or maybe the idea that you thought up a few days ago. A current down a lane.

  • E, Eye of the Storm, Should not give AD, but I think it as a shield that offers extra utility should exist. She is not here to do damage or even augment it. She is here to keep your allies alive, so that they can do damage. I think that a cool mechanic could be that it grants the person who is being shielded to be treated as out of combat. As per the name the eye of the storm is meant to be calm. I think that this would be the most fitting for the name.

  • R, instead of knocking people out of the zone, it would cause a .25 s knock-back every 1s of time during her channel of the ultimate. I would also increase the channel time and decrease the heal.

Thanks for the idea. I've played Janna a fair bit and enjoyed thinking about this.

Janna is a support who's sole purpose is to disengage the enemy and keep her allies alive, and while I still like it I just wish they made her a tiny bit more interactive. What makes Janna unique is her ability to grant allies bonus AD with her shield, the main reason why she's a God Tier support pick, along with her ultimate which is the strongest heal in game. In the event of a rework or update, there's only two things I want them to change: Her passive and her Q. Her passive is kind of worthless and Nami has the same passive but better, and her Q is a great disengage tool I just wish it had more purpose besides disengage. Another idea is that for her ultimate it slows people when they re-enter it, like it use to. As for what to keep just leave her E and R alone but a little touch up on her W wouldn't hurt.
