If you don't want to refill Refund Tokens, how about some solutions to why people want them?

Reasons for using a refund token;

  1. Turns out I hate or suck at this champion that Faker made look easy
  • I simply decided I wanted something else more
  • I spent RP but it went on sale a week later
  • I made a mistake and purchased the wrong item

Ok, let's brainstorm some solutions to replace the need for Refunds on a few of these. Doesn't have to be all, it just needs to reduce the amount of refunds people want to use.

  • How about renting champions, or let players choose one champion to go in their free rotation?

  • Rent - You can play a champion for 3 days (maybe 1 or 7?) for a fraction of the IP cost, still not in Ranked. If you choose to purchase the champion within that time it only costs the difference so you don't pay more. If you buy it with RP the IP is simply refunded.

  • Rotation - You get to add any one champion to your free rotation. It lasts for one week and you can only choose it once every 2 (or 4?) weeks. No IP lost if you don't want to buy it like the Renting, but it's limited to once a week while you could literally rent the entire roster.

  • For making a bad RP buy, those are good reasons to refund a purchase. We can keep the Refund Tokens for those situations. I'd honestly add a couple more tokens, and also give players a popup that tells them they won't get the tokens back, and give them examples of the best uses for their limited tokens (many new players waste them and regret it later when they know better).

  • "I made a mistake" - Simply let people refund for free within the first 24 hours if they haven't used it yet. That's all. No restrictions other than time. I saw someone type in "captain" and accidentally bought Captain GP when they meant to buy Captain MF. That is a shitty feeling, and there's no real reason to punish a player for an honest mistake like that.

While i dont have any needs for Refund Tokens, i can understand some of the reasons of having it. Although i will say points 1 and 4 shouldnt be a cause of a free refund. You should be buying skins/champions because you want it, not because you saw someone (pro or otherwise) play as them and want to be like them. Its just a buyer remorse and if you assume you can play as well (or better) than a pro player by just playing a new champion in a few games in my opinion you dont deserve to return it for free.

Point 3 i believe if you contact support and within the week you should be able to get the RP difference.

With point 2 that seems like the only valid reason, but even then people make like they can only have one skin for a champion. thats why we get new skins, and very different types of tiers/variation of skins so you can buy them all.

Honestly though with Refunds they have to make sure that when they do implement it they do it right the first time, or else they'll lose a lot of money. Because the fact of the matter is people want the refunds because they just want to refund older skins to get the new ones for free, or because they got a bad skin from Mystery Gift and want something better, thus making MG pointless if you can just keep getting refund to change your skins!

I refunded Alistar, Ryze and one more low ip cost champs in my first month of playing this game. I bought them with IP lol

So pro. It haunts me to this day.

I like the idea of adding a refund token over a certain period of time. Maybe 1 every 3-6 months or something.

Refunding IP shouldn't be an issue, and is usually done when someone makes a mistake, and refunding RP still keeps the RP on the account. As far as I know you can't "refund RP" once it's on the account can you? Because even if they refund an RP purchase they will still be spending that RP eventually.

It would definitely be nice though. I know on my very first account I wasted my refunds because I wanted to try out a bunch of different champions, then I realized I should have been using that IP to buy runes. Since I had no refunds left I was forced to grind a lot of games to get enough IP to get runes and it wasn't much fun.

i don't want refund tokens, i want a single unique skin a year saying "we care about you enough to make this for you, just because you played."

I feel like a pretty good option would be to just slowly gain refund tokens. Though it would have to be really slow. Really would like those because I used my last one when I was level 7, and I bought TF thinking he was AD because I saw a streamer playing him AD, and for some reason, he was awful [zombie-brand-mindblown] . Therefore, I refunded him thinking he was trosh.

What would help me a lot is if the game client had a preview window for skins where you can see the character model, freely rotate it, and get an idea for how the skin looks in-game before you buy it.

I bought Academy Ahri last week because I got on an Ahri kick and wanted a new skin (only had Dynasty, which I got with her release bundle). But Ahri's character model is so small that really the only appreciable difference is pink hair instead of black. It's just not big enough to showcase the difference in skins very much. But all my refund tokens are gone, and Support has told me I can't get further refunds. :(

Honestly the idea of one being able to add one more champ to your rotation seems like a grand idea. Especially for people like me who enjoy playing as many champs as possible. It would really help some of the newer players as well with having to put up with random ass champs that have clunky mechanics and are pretty much impossible for new players to get. (Looking at youZed )
