Story-line games?

I got thinking, and I don't know if it exists now, but if not, why not make a series of games that influence the story line? Basically, two teams would play a game, both taking a side of an issue in the story. For example, the Ionia vs Noxus matches over the southern provinces. Anyway, these two teams would play, in this case one for Ionia and one for Noxus. The winner of the game (or series of games) would have their victory recorded in the lore to advance it. So, say Noxus had won the second round instead of Ionia, Noxus would still control some of Ionia, rather than Ionia being entirely free.
