What the hell is the point of buying chests now if Riot is going to allow you to buy gemstones later? What the fuck?

no I dont but I was looking forward to gambling for that Vayne skin, looks like riots just going to make it EZ PZ to get in the future

Did they give out a price for the gemstones yet? Maybe they'll be expensive and people will avoid paying for them?

While it could theoretically be possible, I doubt they'll directly make it so you could buy gemstones to use towards any of the hextech skins (as that'd make them less $, and who wants that). Chances are they'll probably make them purchasable, but only redeemable for the ward skins or the 1 stone for a chest+key thingy.

Is currently on teh PBE and works exactly as a gemstone won from the chest, they even stack.

Its on the PBE so people could bug check the skins and give opinions about them.

Not really. Back when Annie was released they give us premium chest so we could unlock her easily so they coudl have done the same if they want us to get vayne for bug so I doubt that's the case

maybe just having the gems available was just simpler so they didnt have to repeatedly spend the time to do the chest.

Not quite. Premium chest are already coded, you got one when the whole chest thing started (the chest you got for free) they have several more chances to contain gems. Also the purchasable gems are called "Test Gemstone" on the pbe so I'm guessing they are planning to implement it on some kind of even like when they released the chest thing you coudl buy premium chest but stopped one week after. They promised to give chest with guaranteed gemstone so I'm guessing you will be able to buy some sort of bundle with gemstone+chest but limit it t o 3 or 5. Afterall, someone that is already halfway through the skin will be more likely to spend money on chest that someone who doesn't have a single gemstone, is basically a bait item.
