I find myself waiting for mana long after I've gotten my HP. If anything, it should be done before my hp.

Xyltin2 votes

It should definitely be faster to keep up with the HP.

Earl Eulrich8 votes

totally agree on that one...it´s just another disadvantage for manausers currently that they have to sit hours in the fountain till they can leave with full ressources, while non-mana-champs regain their full strengths vastly faster, gaining 5-10sec each recall - which can mean quite a lot on many occassions.

qetzel7 votes

Why should mana be treated differently from health? Both are resources that you need to manage.

JnFnRu9 votes

Meanwhile energy refunds in the B animation.....

qetzel16 votes

So does mana. Just slower :P

Energy is a different type of resource than mana or health. I don't see how you can compare them in this way.

Because in the "I want to be able to leave my base and do stuff quickly" stakes, different resources have no real reason to be better or worse. It's a really random disadvantage for mana champions to have for them to take longer to leave base than energy/resourceless champs.

Resources might be incomparable in general but in this case it does seem silly that they're different.

Energy will regen to full quicker without being in fountain than someone with low mana in the fountain due to both resources being different and having their own strengths and weakness, so no, the comparison is silly... You also realize some champions have health as a resource, so I guess health should be instantly restored?

Health being a resource for certain champions is irrelevant, because -everyone- has health. Whether you use it as a resource or not, you wait for it to fill to full (or nearly full) before leaving the base. So, there's no unfairness at all there.

Different resources having different strengths is great and all but I'm not sure that Riot intended for "You have to wait longer to leave your base some of the time" to be a balancing point for mana vs energy. I'm pretty sure it's just a product of how the fountain regen works.

World Ender2 votes

If you went full tank without buying home guards for the increased regen you would be stuck in fountain forever as well before preseason. It's the con of having a large resource pool. You also don't have to refill your mana fully, FYI. Your whole argument is pretty silly.

People like Garen Shyvana Riven RekSai Rengar Renekton don't have a resource.. also includeTryndamere. Rage Bar doesn't count because it doesn't use jack. There are probably more that dont use a resource either. I think each champion should cost mana, hp, or energy. Riven is the best example of freedom of resources. Gets a shield at cost of what? 5 second cd? So far 7 champs witho no resource. what is this game? What champion doesn't use a resource?

Health is equal for all champions. The real question is, why should mana users be forced to wait while all the manaless/energy/whatever champions get to leave the platform as soon as their HP fills up?

Resourceless champions shouldn't exist, at least not as Riot has them. They should have HUGE CDs or be very weak or limited at something as a result. Even if I hate that energy even exists as a substitute for mana, energy has its own drawbacks; don't pretend they don't exist.

Weeb Guardian2 votes

Riven doesn't agree with the big drawbacks/high cooldowns

Neither does tryndamere

Nor does renekton

Rengo, garen, shyvana and rek'sai don't agree either

Well, actually none of them has big drawbacks if you think about it

So you're totally right about them not being as they should be

Riot not properly balancing manaless champs is a given.

Both mana and manaless champs should have their gives and takes, and manaless are not holding up on their end of that bargain.

Then again, mana itemization is weak overall in dynamic. There are very few options, and there should be far more. Enough that even manaless champions might buy those items at the cost of direct gold benefit, like when the game was released.

Currently manaless champs get a free ride. Almost every mana item is specifically mana related with the exception of Sheen and Glacial Shroud items and morello's. That is not how it should be. There should be far more items that manaless champs need as well that provide mana or mana regen so they have to pay in at least one way for being manaless.

Reasons not to do this:

Reasons not to do this:

This would create a try hard cocaine addict behavior oriented around shopping in 3 seconds instead of 4 to maximize your cs. Would cut a 2-3% win rate to everyone who enjoy relaxing a second and take 5 second to shop. This is why.

Sohleks1 votes

Well my first post was kinda a meme.

It would buff passive mana based waveclear farming gameplay a fair bit though as a lot of champs who actually feel gated by mana have this strength.

I'm not sure if constant burn resources to push/farm is a pattern they want to reward everyone to do (not like this subtle change would suddenly change the way people play drastically tho)

Arkimbalds4 votes

It's like Riot is worried someone will spam skills from spawn. If you're casting spells from spawn in an "exploitable" way, then you're so far pushed in we can call it an entropy reduction mechanic.

The Voids Call8 votes

This makes no sense, you could do that now. The only champion who can use more than 50%+ of their mana before it can refill via the fountain is Kassadin, but even then it doesn't really mean anything, because in the 2seconds of his ult CD, he's still recovered a good chunk of his mana.

All it would really do is make him able to quickly stack ult to defend his nexus

Doc Thulhu4 votes

If you are carrying a item 2033 spam the hell out of it while standing in fountain

Z Statistic25 votes

This does nothing. The buff is instantly removed and the flask refilled.

Avios19 votes

Just leave the huge circle and sit on the steps, then reset it after your mana is full.

junglerboy161 votes

Yeah, that only helps for super early game before the fountain's % mana regen outscales Flask's mana regen.

Respakt1 votes

Drop your potion and have your teammate who just tpd from fountain pick it to refill it for you kappa 4head

Doc Thulhu1 votes

We are going with DOTA2 strats now?

WoonStruck4 votes

Mana is supposed to be a slowly recovering resource. That's the downside of it. Its how its been in every MOBA game and its how it should be. That's the disadvantage of mana vs energy.

Don't make an argument for manaless champs, since they shouldn't exist. Even if an ability is free, every champions should have at least health and a secondary resource that heavily gates them with over-use, and no that doesn't include rage, ferocity, etc. Those should be tertiary resources.

-coughGARENcoughJUSTICEcough- I agree that Champs like him should have something like Energy. Maybe he'd have a passive that increases his Energy regen as well as Health? And his R would use up all his energy. Things like that.

Ults are pretty much always free unless its a mana-based champion. Even some of those end up being free.

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

Maybe his Ult would do a self-slow instead of taking Energy, and his Q would use up Energy but give him more speed? Or instead of getting rapid Energy regen from his passive, his W would regen Energy based on damage he takes while his shield is up?

Imagine though,

You're sieging an enemy nexus, and the enemy throws everything at you. They run back, and come back in a second with full mana to hit you again.

How about after 7 seconds of being out of combat? You would gain instant mana after say recalling.

You generally don't have the enemy sieging your nexus before 20 minutes. If that's happening, having mana refill instantly probably won't help much anyways.

Akeydel1 votes

you could already do that....

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

He means quickly doing it. But I agree.

junglerboy162 votes

What I'd like most would be a dynamic health/mana restore function, for example, once you respawn/recall, you restore 10% max HP/Resource per second in 0.2 second intervals, increased by 1% per 1% missing HP/Resource.

Once homewards activate, the multiplier would increase to 3% per every 1% missing HP/Resource.

Refilling instantly at spawn is too much, but getting back from really low a bit faster would make waiting in base a little bit more bearable.

EDIT: This kind of fountain regen mechanic would also make those pesky situations where you have to wait ages for your mana once your HP has already filled happen a lot less and be a lot less extreme.

Not instantly, just make it so it increases faster than health.

What I'm not understanding is WHY was clarity taken away? Maybe I can understand an "abuse" point of view on it, maybe...but we have heal >__>

And if that's not enough you've reduced mana regen on my most used item (frost queen's claim)! TT____TT why????
