Hextech Crafting changes: Champion shards feel bad to get even if you don't own every champion

So, as much as I would like to not admit it, I've used Hextech Crafting a ton since it came out. This refers to both earning chests from getting S ranks on champions as well as spending some cash on chests. And even though probably 1/5 of my champion pool has come from Hextech Crafting, every time I get a champion shard it just feels really bad.

I personally like Hextech Crafting, I think it's a great system in all areas. It rewards players for playing a lot of League as well as rewards good players who can earn multiple S ranks on various champions even if it isn't their main role. Each time you get a chest (and after many months, finally getting enough key shards to finally open that chest actually (<--- fix this Riot)), it's great opening it up and knowing you'll get the chance to earn something that normally you might not be able to get. For many of the League players, often they can't afford skins or simply don't agree with spending real money on a virtual game, so having the ability to earn such rewards by simply playing the game is a great feeling.

However though, the rate of champion shards compared to anything costing RP seems to be roughly 50/50, if not a little less leaning in favor of champion shards. Now I'm not suggesting to remove champion shards completely from Hextech chests; they are very useful in saving IP for runes or that one certain champion you really want to get. But with the way Hextech Crafting works, not only do you need a shard, you also need essence to upgrade whatever shard you have to a permanent unlock for your account. With how often you get champion shards, the few times you actually get a skin shard, it feels worthless almost because, not only do you probably not have enough essence for it, but you know the chances of getting more skin shards for orange essence is greatly outnumbered against you.

My solution to Hextech Crafting; decrease the IP price of Hextech Mystery Champion Shards in the shop and decrease the percentage of getting champion shards from Hextech Chests slightly. This would allow for more players to feel like Hextech Crafting is viable to them because they'll be getting more content they would normally have to pay for. Currently Hextech Crafting feels like a disappointment almost; having done really good in a game and earning your Hextech Chest only to open it up and receive a Garen champion shard. If the chance of getting something of RP cost only was increased a bit more, Hextech Crafting would fulfill its role as a Free Rewards System much better than it currently does.

Everyone loves getting free stuff and free things feel that much better when you feel like you had to actually earn it. With a decrease in IP price for Hextech Mystery Champion Shards, using Hextech Crafting as a way to save on IP for champions would still feel viable, plus would give Hextech Mystery Champion Shards a better purpose then their current, sole use of upgrading mastery tokens. Slightly decreasing the percent chance of receiving a champion shard from Hextech Chests would have players strive more to diversify their champion pool as well. The decrease in both of those would make Hextech Crafting feel that much better each time you earn a chest, actually get a skin shard, and feel like you have a good chance of being able to upgrade that skin shard into a permanent in a decent amount of time instead of grinding chests for months on end only to get champion shards 3/4, if not 4/4 Hextech Chests you earn after games.

These are my thoughts and opinions on the matter; thank you to anyone who took the time to read and respond to all this. Let me know what you think about Hextech Crafting and my small proposed changes to the way the system works.
