"Locked In" versus "Ready/Not Ready" toggle
Is there any actual benefit to having such a rigid "Lock In" system, as opposed to a more flexible "Ready/Not Ready" toggle option?
Mind, I only mean this for normal queue. In Ranked it makes sense, because there is a pick order and the way pick/counterpick works necessitates this kind of choice. However, I don't see a reason why in normal they can't just let you signal as "Ready" but let you go "Not Ready" and change Champions.
Pros This allows you to change Champions up until the game begins. That way if people change their minds or adapt or want to change the team comp, they can do so. Right now there is a rush to "call and lock in" because once you lock in there isn't anything you can do about it. So if someone calls "TOP" and instalocks, the other players are then compelled to choose other roles, even if one of them had called that role first. In some cases that locking player may be convinced to play another role instead that still works for their Champion but this is still suboptimal.
So it could improve games that would otherwise result in dodges or a frustrating game otherwise.
Cons Trolling Namely, 'picking' a Champion and going Ready and then at the last second choosing something else - but this can happen even now, if they simply don't lock in until the end.
I just don't know that I see the benefit of this system.
