Why do some Yordles have four fingers, where as others have five?

I was thumbing through splash arts out of boredom the other day and it occurred to me that Yordles have a random amount of fingers. Also, when buying a skin, make sure to know you could be potentially cutting off or adding a finger to one of your favorite every day Yordles.

Amumu: Four (In all splash arts)

Corki: Five (In all splash arts)

Gnar: Four (In all splash arts)

Heimerdinger: Four (In all splash arts)

Lulu: Five (In all splash arts)

Kennan: Five (In all splash arts)

Poppy: Four, or so it seems (Five in "Scarlet Hammer")

Rumble: I have no idea, it looks to be four in "Rumble in the Jungle"

Teemo: Five in "Badger Teemo", Five in "Super Teemo", Four in "Panda Teemo", Unknown in all others.

Tristana: Four in "Earnest Elf Tristana", Four in "Geurilla Tristana" and Five in "Rocket Girl Tristana", Unknown in all others

Veigar: Four (In all splash arts)

Ziggs: Five, Five in "Mad Scientist Ziggs", Four in "Pool Party Ziggs"

So are there different breeds of Yordles in Bandle City that have different amounts of Fingers?

Riot said that at some point when they get around to VU-ing the older yordles, they will normalize Yordle anatomy to make them more cohesive as a race, they said they new Heimerdinger is an example of the direction they want to go with at least the male Yordles, while the Female ones will likely be based around how Lulu looks (that doesn't make sense considering that Lulu has 5 fingers and Heimer has 4, but that is what they said).

It could be possible that there are different "breeds", as the skin colour also changes. For example, Rumble is blue, while Heimerdinger is yellow.
