Keys, question and suggestions
I understand they drop in chance after getting one, but by how much? Also: aren't keys supposed to be the thing you eventually stockpile on? Lemme explain a bit, chests should be hard(er) to get, and keys are (potentially) impossible to collect enough of(I know it's set up that way for the game to remain profitable, and I don't blame you) Currently hextech chests have TONS of restrictions set upon them, 1 per 7 days, 1 for each champ per season. These are set restrictions with no variance. This is a very solid system. This gives a major barrier on how many chests you can get realistically (4 per month=48 chests per year) But it creates a bit of a dilemma, as chests are gained if your teammates get an s rank, so it's more common than the restrictions should be in my opinion.
(Guessing with numbers here) Key drop rates are variable, this much we know, so if there are 4 chests per month, and 3 fragments=1 key, 12 fragments=complete month. I'm going to guess on key rates, so these numbers aren't accurate. Assuming you're lucky as hell, the minimum # of games solo is 12 If unlucky, and assuming a <1% rate on the 12th shard, it's 1200+ games.
My suggestion to alleviate some of this? If your friend gets an s rank, you get a key shard, instead of a chest. That same friend can't give another key shard until the week ends. Of, they keep giving key shards at a rapidly deteriorating rate, provided they get a chest, so from 100/25/6.25/1.5625% chance.
Or are keys supposed to be the rarer object?
