Riot's ranking system discourages experimentation.

"There are normals for that" You know where MMR is very "balanced," where people try their best because it is just "normals," where people won't flame you for losing.

So you're saying that you should just be free to randomly test something that you don't will work in the exact environment when 4 other people are counting on you to play to your utmost best with your best chance of reliability?

What do you want the system to do? If you do end up winning despite testing something in a ranked environment, you get rewarded. If you don't, then you face the consequences of your actions.

Even in real professional games, players are allowed to experiment. That is in fact key in professional games to experiment. You can't learn something if you never try.

And I know people will say normals. But normals is a different environment. And I also don't know what exactly author has in mind as testing.

Yeah, they experiment when they have a full team that are directly interacting with each other and know how each other play, not with 4 other randoms that are going into game expecting the exact opposite of something experimental.

Also besides that, esports teams test things out in scrims, where the setting is near the same as an actual pro match. They might try out new champions in the game as regular, and practice their skill in like anyone else, but actual strategies are tested in a completely different environment

Not just esports, professional athletes in physical sports also test out new plays, new team formations, etc in regular season games. Sure they may have prepped the plays in advanced, but sometimes not the formations and lineups.

And you are right that a season long with a team is different from one game with randoms. But maybe that is one of the OPs complaints.
