@Riot: Mastery level 6-7: Champion portrait icons please and thank you

Champion icon assets already exist in the game, but are only used for the in-game portraits. Unlock them for summoner icon use when you reach Mastery 6 or 7 please (because 6-7 is being added next).

If you want to take it a step further, cut portraits from every skin splash and make those available too for the ones you own.
