As someone who has never cosplayed, I want to voice my viewpoint.

This is a bit of an open letter to cosplayers, prompted by the Riot cosplay music video just put out.

I've never cosplayed, nor have I ever been to a cosplay event. From an outsider looking in, I want to talk about the things that really stick out to me and I appreciate when I see people do things like this.

Time. Time really speaks volumes. Whenever I see a costume that really makes me wonder how much effort that person must of put in to their costume, it makes me respect that person for being passionate and not doing what they love half way. I don't mean to be judgmental against those who maybe can't afford the good materials, or don't have time in their busy lives, but as a part of the audience costumes that really just look like a fabric outfit you made in an afternoon dissintrests me. You don't have to be a professional, you don't even need to use fancy lights or flashy sparkles, but seeing a constume that goes to a length that you don't usually see stands out a lot.

Innovation. What makes me pause videos like Riot just put out is seeing a cosplayer who did something different that you don't expect. Maybe it's a cool effect that was resourceful or handy, maybe it was some part of the costume that really went the distance to connect with the champion theme. The people who try do be different and stand out do stand out, and it is appreciated when you are original.

Just my thoughts, you people are awesome for creating stuff like this.
