As a Tank main, I'm very excited to play Maokai with that glorious Victorious skin
So there were tons of haters saying that Maokai isn't a very good decision to be picked for the Victorious skin, but I have to comment on why it was a good decision to pick him:
- He was a high priority pick for top lane back in early 2016 competitive games.
- He was just overshined by the freaking Tank Yasuo & Ekko tops.
- If it weren't for him, some of the teams may not made it to Worlds right now.
And then there's those who thinks other champions being commonly played in competitive games should be the rightful owners of the VIctorious skin, and here's why I don't think so on some champions.
- Already owns their own Victorious skin.
- Has a Championship skin.
(my issue) - Barely played in competitive games, but for some reason, no one gives a shit about it when he gets the Championship skin.
- Already given SKT skins.
- SKT & Victorious.
- Already given a Taipei Assassin skin.
So as you can see from the above list, all the champions were already given the skins which partly commemorate them being picked at LCS & Worlds.
And imo, there are some other candidates would be good picks for the VIctorious skins, such as 
, but seeing as how in the lines of Victorious skin lineups history are such as:
: Bursting bruiser & semi-tank.
: Support.
: Stun bot while being a bursty assassin jungler.
: Part mage while keeping herself as a helpful support.
: ADC.
There's one more role which hasn't been filled yet, and that would be the Tank role. (don't bs me about J4 being a "tank" while you people kept building pure AD on him)
So to conclude it all up, I'm glad Riot decided to give the Victorious skin to our glorious tree (not you Ivern...), and I hope to keep myself being good boy til the Season's over to snatch myself a Plat border & Victorious skin. [slayer-pantheon-rainbows]
