My climb to the top 5,000
Yesterday, upon successful completion of my diamond 2 promotion series, I became one of the top 5,000 players on the North American server. This has been my goal for some time now, and I'm pleased to finally have reached it.
It's been a long climb for me. I started playing at the end of S1 (I think), and didn't play ranked until mid-S2. During S2 I had <900 ELO, which is equivalent to Bronze 5 with 0 LP at best, it's actually much lower than that. I ended S2 at 1200 ELO, which is around low silver nowadays. In S3 I climbed to platinum 1, and played my diamond promotion series multiple times, losing them all. I also reached platinum in ranked 3v3 and 5v5 for brief periods of time, but no longer play with a team. Last season I reached diamond twice, once after falling back into platinum. In the past few weeks I've been lingering around diamond 3-5, getting promoted/demoted frequently. I'm on a huge win streak, have made some ridiculous comebacks, and have consistently beaten my opponents mechanically.
As for my future goals, I want to...
- Get 7 or more wins in my placement series in S5
- Climb back to diamond in S5
- Reach top 5,000 in S5
I don't plan on playing much more ranked in the preseason aside from a few matches every now and then so I don't get rusty. I want to focus the time I would usually spend playing ranked on helping other players via coaching. If you're interested check out my lol-coaching profile. I offer lessons for free.
It's been a long climb, but I'm finally near the top. I've played a lot, more than average, but haven't taken my game too seriously until recently. A small amount of critical thinking and focus goes a long way.
