Report and Punishment Systems Could Use a Rework/Tweak
Currently, the report system is being abused by trolls, liars, and people who are just generally salty. The fact that a troll can get other people to report someone to the point of restrictions and even bans is ridiculous. Even if they're reports are held in lower esteem, this means nothing to the community. I believe the people at Riot should emulate other games Report Systems.
For this example, I will choose to look at Dota 2's report system. Once a day, you can only report 3 times. No way to get those reports back until the next day. This
tee's that people have to be careful for reports instead of just spamming for unskilled player or verbal abuse.
Another ordeal: there is no clarity on what can get you punished. I know Riot wants the community to decide these parameters, but there should be a general
hold for punishments. There should be a kind of warning when you are about to get banned/restricted to put you on a sort of chopping block, coaxing players into being careful for what they say/do. Getting restrictions and bans suddenly is an unpleasant surprise (which it is meant to be, it seems), so there is no way of telling if you're in the red zone or not. Another thing is you should have a counter for how close you are to finishing a punishment.
Again emulating Dota 2's punishment system (can you tell i like Dota?), they give you the parameters of how many reports will get you punished. Instead of restrictions however, Valve does something worse; they put you in temporary low elo matchmaking. This includes: longer waiting times, other toxic players, and trolls. This effects normal games and (unlike League) you must win a certain amount of games to escape the low elo. This forces you to make do and work together with your other teammates.
These are just my suggestions and my own opinion. Leave a comment if you want. Thanks for reading.
