What do you think about alternative premade ranked queues?

Lyte posed the question and I'm curious what more people here think about it.

I'm curious, what do players think if you could play Ranked Queues with 1-4 friends? I know some players want a pure "Solo" experience, but maybe some players can't get a premade of 5 going for Ranked Teams, and would want to play Ranked with Premade 2s-4s. We'd of course change matchmaking so that premade groups are more likely to match against other premade groups (so 5s vs 5s, 4s vs 4s, etc).

Personally, I would love a way to queue up for ranked on Summoners Rift as a group of 3. I frequently play League with my wife and one other friend, but seeing as Twisted Treeline isn't our cup of tea we don't play ranked together. All three of us feel like we'd do significantly better as a three man in ranked, covering each other's weaknesses and playing off each others strengths. I really want to see this idea go live, and I feel like it'd have to get a lot of traction before the pre-season if it has a hope.
