Dr Jarjarbinks2 votesbut if the question is posed in such a way as to seem like not an actual question but a statement and that statement is negative then the question becomes a thinly veiled insult. I believe it falls under the "passive aggressive" category of human behavior.
Example: Child comes home after curfew and the parent asks "Where the hell were you?!?!" You see this is posed as a question but it is actually a statement that "whatever you were doing was wrong because you were supposed to be home and you are in trouble." The parent could claim that it was just a simple question and if the child had answered "I was being held hostage" then the child would not have been in trouble. Of course such an excuse is highly unlikely, the parent believes this, and so in reality cannot claim the initial question was really "just a question."
