I miss this. Patch preview had a more human element to changes. They didn't just have text that was tl;dr that would just get everyone mad. Sure there was some room to disagree, but hearing a Rioter's voice and input on the changes made me accept it more than merely just a body of text.

Nobody likes changes. I'm not sure but I think Riot is looking for something to add to League of Legends. This isn't an addition; it's a revival.

The new method of sending out patches http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-58-notes Just has little explanation to me. You can check both out and see for yourself.

I miss the videos before the patch. Does it really take that long to make a video describing changes? There's more commentary that's possible in five minutes than 30 minutes of writing and reading.

I also don't like having to hunt on Reddit and surrender@20 for updates. I understand that Riot has to have a "community" outreach, but some information is never accessed by regular users. The Weekly Updates are nice, but that just masks the issue. If it were me, I'd relocate the "community outreach" staff to working on the website, updating information and working to improve the boards. It really only takes one guy to copy-paste information from here onto Twitter. Even then, a link is just fine too. There needs to be a general "Riot" page that I can see for the stuff they post on Twitter.

Anybody else remember these? Do you feel like this would make a more "involved" feeling when it comes to updates and changes?

I liked the Patch Preview because you could get this kind of human description of the changes.

I like the current form of the changes because they give you a concrete description of all the changes and why Riot changed these aspects of these champions.

As much as I liked the patch preview, I feel like understanding why Riot is changing each and every champion the way they are changing them is super valuable. The patch preview and the current deep patch notes take work, and it all comes down to what would benefit players more: developers voicing why they are changing some of the biggest changes in the patch or written, in-depth explanation from developers on why they are changing what they are changing.

I personally value the deep explanations that are currently in the patch notes because sometimes the changes I care about wouldn't be featured in the patch notes. Other times, the patch notes and the patch preview could give the same exact description, and I don't need the patch preview to understand the changes because the patch notes give that same description.
